As usual, the asking prices are way too high. I've seen these actually trading hands for around $1000 a pair. The problem is, the cast pot metal base is weak on these, and they do break, and then what is one going to do? In that case, the seller sets the price unless the buyer is willing to wait a while for a deal. I would wait to find a deal, as the same things show up in the Pantera area for a lot less because some don't realize the same mirrors were used on both in the eighties.

If you don't have to have original, Re-Originals makes an exact replica for something like $350 per side. I looked into getting a set when I had my Jalpa (which uses the same mirror as the Countach). It's also the same mirror as the Ferrari 512bbi.

They come in gray, so you can paint them whatever color you want.

Also, I just saw this too. Looks like someone has come up with a fix for the base that always breaks!!!

I have purchased a lot of parts from this seller, including most of the parts I needed for my 400S LOWBODY (posted a picture of the car) and he truly is WHOLESALE on his parts. Like I said there are alot of parts that are not available which creates the supply and demand effect. On items that are available through the factory or other sources this seller was #1 in price, and service. FYI the name of his business is AMH Exotic Parts.

in 1984 when Bill Stewart would just give me 400GT parts when I needed them. I think things started going nuts in 1988 when car prices started to go up. Then when the cars tanked in 1990, the parts just stayed up there. Now -- obviously -- they are totally nuts.

I would never buy any of these cars if they needed any parts. It's just not worth it. If they were Ferrari SWB's or something, then I can see paying those prices. But these are not expensive cars! Just the parts.

    Crazy

Roy hooked me up with some original 200mph bullet mirrors, for a VGP - very good price.

I really don't care, if I am supposed to have Flag mirrors. Some of the 79 cars, had the bullet mirrors.

    $3,200 for mirrors is insane.

Great info Mike. thanks. that is what I am talking about. $3000 on a 1MM vintage car ok. $3K mirrors on a $100K car not even 25 years old for the most part (QV), that is not cool.

Forgot to mention: the best-looking mirror ever to grace the doors of any variant of Countach, I think. They just give the impression of SPEED.

No exterior mirrors, no windshield wiper, and no wing = bye bye Boxer :D.

Here is a genuine Series 1, 1121016, but with replacement mirrors. If I were the owner, I would sell those later-version units for $3,200 on EBay, then buy a set of the original bullet units from Gunther for $85, thus not only netting a tidy profit of $3,115 :) but having the original units restored to the car. It would look so good with its original bullet mirrors on.

Sometimes you just have to play the parts-game.

It is true that Classic Lamborghini parts prices are sometimes insane. But getting good parts for an acceptable price is a matter of patience and contacts. Even then, they are never cheap, but the point of this thread is that sometimes the asking prices for parts is getting silly. $3,200 for a set of mirrors as used on S3 and onwards Countach? Pay it if you like, but as the saying goes: "A fool & his money are soon parted".

Case in point. A Countach shift knob was touted on EBay for circa $2,000. It wasn't even a perfect unit. It took me 4 months but in the end I found a perfect original unit for $500.

Case in point. A Countach LP400S tool kit was touted on EBay for circa $5,000. It wasn't even a perfect unit. It took me 4 months but in the end I found a perfect original (NOS) unit for $1,500.

Joe, with all do respect, I do agree with what you say to a point. He who waits MAY find what he is looking for, for a reasonable price. As you know some of these parts (like the cars) are getting harder to come by. I have had some parts on ebay like I stated earlier on in this thread, the electric Vitaloni mirrors like the ones on ebay now, and they sold very quick for $3,000.00 (an hours time). I for one like collecting the parts, (kind of like a kid that collects match box cars) I enjoy looking at them in my glass cases in my office or hanging in my garage with my cars. I have put items forsale, sure they are priced high, but my feeling towards this is if someone needs that part, or wing, or rims, or whatever it may be and is willing to pay me what I want to part with it then I will sell. If not that is great, I do not have to take any of my decorations down. Moral of the story is there is always another side to someones theory on selling there stuff, so to have people bash the sellers of there items I think is not right and very disrespectful. Just my thoughts and 2 cents. : )

The late model exterior mirrors have to be changed out. No S1, should be seen with the wrong mirrors :).

I always get a kick out of some eBay sellers, who found some junk after cleaning up the garage. They make sure to put an absurd price on the item, in an effort to not give it away. When reading the description, they have no clue what they are listing.

    So true.

But please note, nobody is bashing any seller. Stating that something is "too expensive for me" is a choice.

Not necessarily. Knowing this seller from past experience I know he knows what these parts are worth. He was the parts manager at Nelson Lamborghini for years before they sold. I think this is again what I have stated, he does not need to or have to sell these hard to find Lambo parts, but puts them out there for sale for someone that may need them. I find it interesting that certain people find it mind boggling that a set of ORIGINAL VITALONI Countach electric mirrors that have been out of production for probably 20+ years are up for sale for $3,000.00, when Murcie mirrors bring almost $4,000.00 for a set and are still in production today. Again this is not meant in any disrespect to anyone, just trying to get a little respect for the sellers of THEIR OWN ITEMS that they are selling at THEIR OWN PRICES. I guess it boils down to if people do not agree with what someone else is doing why waste your time to bash them? just turn your head and disagree if you please but let them go about their business as they wish.

I was not suggesting, the seller found the mirrors in his garage. Sure, he can ask any price for the mirrors. At times with my side hobby, I see some eBay sellers, ask absurd amounts for common items. It is also not unusual, to see nonsense and false information, in the listing description.

4K for Murcielago mirrors ? I would take the Murcie without exterior mirrors, to Manny, Moe, and Jack. You can buy a Murcie driver, for in and around 90K. The mirrors, are approximately 5%, of the value, of a Murcie driver.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that Roy hooked me up, with some HOT exterior mirrors, for a very good price. Lately, I have thought about going with NO external mirrors :).

It is NUTS, for the price of parts of any car. I just had to buy air filters and cabin filters for my wifes ML350 Mercedes (not 100% positive) but I believe I paid over $300.00 for that.

It has always been a fact (for the most part) that a car is always worth more if you were to part it out than sell it as a whole. The Murcie and I would have to believe the Gallardo are EXTREME PROOF of that.

    Just an FYI,

Lots of small parts suppliers made parts for Ferrari and Lambo over the years. Mirrors, steering wheels, seats, window trim, platic bits, wheel bolts, etc. Neither company made 100% of the parts for their cars.

Matt from ReOriginals makes regular trips to Italy to work with those original suppliers to get parts made. So those parts are from the original suppliers in Italy...not some Chinese knock off. Most of the stuff from ReOriginals is in a sense, an OEM part.
