I've been following it for a while, out of sheer curiosity. The seller started off pricing this at $124K three months ago. It's now down to a BIN of $112K. One can probably get it at $109K if they're a motivated buyer. I have no idea on what the condition of the car is, nor do I have any affiliation with it. Just an interesting observation of price, especially for a 6,000 mile car (although, admittedly, a European one).

And perhaps another affirmation of the depressing decline in prices in the 550 market - for sellers at least.

    < Sigh >

Vik, I think Euros should be in the 100-110 area. (Remember the one in NJ?)
The low miles I think make this one a pretty good deal at $112, IMO.
The falling prices are good for those who want one. I think 550s are now a much better deal than an AM Vanquish, which seems to be holding its price better.
Why the sigh? It's a buyer's market. Get one! :)

i don't know jack about this specific car BUT i can tell you that 550s are a damn bargain.

i was on the road for a few days and had a couple stints of being stuck in airports waiting for planes. i decided to spend some time with quicken and put together the net-net costs for my various stupid cars over the last five years or so. i know, normally NOT a bright thing to do!

    the list included: E39 M5, 996 C2 Cab, 996 TT, S55, F355 Spider, 550M - all bought new except the ferraris.

the 550 was FAR AND AWAY the cheapest car to own. costs analyzed included: purchasing the car, sales tax (5% in MA), transport (if any), all service and associated parts, excise (property) tax. the costs did not include gasoline or insurance - which for all these cars is basically the same (crappy mileage and high insurance rates).

the 355 and the 996 TT both cost more than twice per month (net) what the 550 came out to. the 550 had 3.5 times the 355's service cost total and 4.7 times the 996TT service cost total - so even with notably higher service costs, it still was the bargain of the bunch. only the M5 came close in the final analysis, and the 550 was still nearly 30% cheaper than the M5.

it's all about the depreciation curves, of course. and there are a TON of other variables. but you get the point.

    a fully-serviced, well-taken-care-of 550 is a sweet deal.

Sounds like you bought right and sold right on the 550. Those who bought them near $200k are probably not feeling so good about it. I can't believe that for the price of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, one can pick up a 550 Maranello right now. Surely those prices will bounce back up (though perhaps not, due to the large supply)

    USED - 550M, F355
    NEW - S55, 996TT, 996C2 Cab, M5

if i were shopping right now i'd look at 1999s or 2000s with a major just done plus the broad ferrrari pre-owned warranty. prices will vary all over the map. 130-145 asking at authorized dealers (nobody else can give you the warranty stuffs).

plan to book 2000 to 2500 a year in maintenance - and that'll include $5K to $6K every fifth year for a major. if you buy just post-major and hold it for two years and sell it (for example), you could easily get away with three figures per year.
