i remember seeing a 355 with 75k miles listing for around 52K a few months back on ferrariads.com. i am wondering if it is realistic for me to think that that price is repeatable. i don't mind the high miles (!) as long as there is service history, so i would like to hear from anyone who has had experience selling/buying 355s with that kind of mileage.

    thanks

I am no expert on Ferrari mechanics or maintenance. With that said I shopped pretty hard for a lesser expensive 355 for the past several months. The problem was that there are just too few cars on the market and even fewer wither higher mileage.

There is a red 96 spider for sale in New Jersey with 48k miles on it going for $68k. I talked with the seller who had zero history on the car and acquired it from 'a close friend' who he would not let me speak with. The car quickly lost its charm.

I can dig up the ad if you want to do more exploration on it.

    Good luck!

There is a low mileage 355 on cars.com for $52k right now. Rebuilt title though. Might be worth looking into. If they have the before repair pics it might have been (relatively) minor damage.

thanks for the reponses. jody, i think that's a bit iffy for me too. i agree not many 355 for sale with high mileage. where do they all go???!!

bill, thanks for the lead. that car is about 20 mins from where i live! but the rebuilt title is kind of a bummer. i'll call this guy on the weekend and see what the deal is.

thanks and i hope more of you chime in with high mileage 355 buy/sell experience! those cars have to be out there!

johng- I purchased what many on this board consider to be a "high-mileage" car. It is a 96' 355 spider, 6 speed car and had 36K and some change on it when I got it. It needed new dash, wheels refinished and some other small items. It did have its 15 and 30K service with all records so that coupled with the fact that the previous owner was a well-respected F-chat member made for a quick decision.

Since I've had the car I have spent about $8500 to get it "finished" and as I prepare to post it for sale I realize that there are few well sorted all problems solved 355's available in the "reasonable" range. Those with extremely low prices generally have a story and are in my opinion poor choices, unless of course you intend on keeping the car for the duration and are willing to sift through the "story". I actually wanted to experience Ferrari ownership at a reasonable level prior to diving in and purchasing a 360 CS, F-40 or Enzo and think I've accomplished that, which is exactly why I'm selling my spider!

    Good luck in your search
