Hi, I know this has been talked about before, but can I confirm that when the wheels are cleaned off, that Zinc Chromate primer is the first thing to put on to protect the rims from corrosion? many thanks, Anthony
I am sorry I don't have specific technical answer but I will share my caution with you..be carfeul with the OEM mag wheels...I have bought plenty of these and they are scary...most leak air, easily get out of round but some I have bought (looking cosmetically perfect) have hidden dangerous cracks or other defects. some have had poor and dangerous welds or repairs over the years as the prices for them have risen. Sellers are "tarting" these wheels up and in some wheels, have done so dangerously. Anyway, I would reccomend MagnaFlux to find hidden cracks before you start using them at speed and don't pay too much for wheels you know nothing about or haven't inspected. If a wheel is out of balance or out of round..be very careful. Welding and repairing these wheels is hard as the art of repair and welding magnesium is rare. If someone can also reccomend to me how best to seal these wheels that would be helpful. Be safe.
