I know it's a long shot, but but here we go :) I recently got a house close to Sarasota and finding myself and my family right at home here... Only thing that holding me back to the damn NoVa is a good private school for 6 grader. Looks like Sarasota has a few that close to 100 yrs old, it must be they doing something right lol. Wondering if anyone can share good/bad experiences with private schools around Sarasota? Thanks you!!!

In order of reputation for rigor of curriculum, and college placement:
    1. Pineview (technically not private, but requires admissions)
    2. St. Stephens (in Bradenton, so depending upon where you are could be a PIA or doable)
    3. Out of Door Academy

Just noticed you mentioned 6th grader...but ultimately are you most interested in college prep? If you’d like more info shoot me a PM.

Thank you, really appreciate it! Except for (2), two other options are doable, actually less driving then we do for same reason in NoVa. I'll shoot you a PM, thanks again!

ODA was good for both of my younger step sisters. Both were accepted to very good colleges (I think the school touts they have a 100% "go-to-college" rate) and turned out to be productive members of society even growing up in the Instagram Age, so that's something I guess.

ODA and Cardinal Mooney, both prepped kids well, both (student athletes) went on to great schools. I've always thought it's "the kid" and what he/she brings to/makes of the program more so that the school itself.

Welcome to Sarasota. This from an old Bethesda/Chevy Chase/ Potomac guy.

My wife and I weren't convinced that Pineview had a well rounded curriculum. We have had two daughters graduate from ODA. Which BTW is perenially ranked in the top 1% of private schools nationally. And one daughter still in school there. ... We are very happy.

ODA's 6th grade still is located in Siesta Key. Starting in the 7th grade, students go to the "upper" campus off University Blvd. in Lakewood Ranch.

You really can't go wrong with schools of this caliber.

    Really nice community too.

    Again. Welcome.
