So me and my friends decided to get our own shop. Here is a pic of the initial stages. Anyone in Utah who needs to put their car on a lift give me a shout. Any ideas of parts or things we should definitely have?

Buy a small standup blast cabinet with an extraction system and load it with glass bead. Forget the cheap Harbor Freight table top units as they are useless. I bought mine used for about $600 and it has been a life saver a hundred times over.

Also buy a nice big parts washer. Again an invaluable tool when working on cars.

Lastly a bench grinder with a stone on one side and a wire wheel on the other. You will use this a LOT.

Can you tell I'm a clean freak :)

and another $15k in equipment - bead blaster, tig welder, press, cleaning station, lighting, detailing, floor jacks/stands, steel top table, etc etc

with all that room, you'll want some basic woodworking tools as well.... add 5K

    and don't forget the fridge....

    Fun project - good luck

    Rgds,
    Vincenzo
PS: cut all the above numbers in half with careful selection....
    PPS: insurance too

C'mon guys... Dont forget the couches and coffee table with 80" LCD TV!

EDIT: on a more serious note, what is that setting you guys back? Are you leasing a commercial space?

Well if you have a 360 in the mix of cars (like in the picture) then I strongly suggest a SD2.

So far the list of tools has been great, if you do restoration work you will need bigger stuff like welder's and a bigger compressor, just maintenance then I would go for the more normal tools.

That's cheap! Around here, it's $1000-1200.00 for a comparable size.
