I'd like to give a shout out for Pro Coach. A while back, he whispered in my ear that late braking is not the key. No sir, early release is the key to the highway.

Try it. Next time you slam on the brakes at the last possible second, try lifting as soon as you think about it. You will feel like you have been shot out of a cannon. Great muther of all that is holy. Try this on a number one corner. You will knock at least a second off your time.

    Thanks Dude.

based on the title of this thread, I thought Peter had developed his own iRacing software, and we were gonna get first crack at it.

So Peter, 'fess up- when is the release date of ProCoach version 1.0??!! :)

I'd be thrilled with a book before starting the hourly ! At some point this year I plan to get on the client list , in the meantime I wouldn't mind soaking up some of that vast knowledge in print form as I suffer from reading better than I hear ..... might be the ability to go back & re-read some sections too.

The way I like to think of this is, don't try to go as fast as possible. Try to brake as little as possible.

Excellent starting point; however, I wish it were this simple. I have applied this theory particularly on T1 at Summit Point, beginning my braking a little before the 4th cone, as opposed to the 3rd as I used to do. Thus, my max speed before braking is about 140 rather than 150 previously. I am trying to accelerate out as close to the apex as possible - or as soon as I feel the car settled. But, there is still the issue of tracking out in a smooth plane while increasing speed.

I guess this is what brings us back, opportunities for continual improvement.

Don't know about that in a GT car. Your experience is in purpose-built race cars! :) For a competent car like yours, I agree.

In most cars, however, the biggest performance (lap time) gain is compressing brake distances, but not so late it inhibits throttle application. Brakes are habitually the least used capability of any car on the racetrack, but proper use of them can increase speed, reduce drama and help the car turn into and through the corner.

    That's for SURE!
