A few pics of my 2007 MKV GTI PKG2 6MT: Originally on B&G coilovers, but it was too low for a daily driver (500 miles a week between work/ lawschool).

The new pics are with the painted OEM Votex front and smoothed sides/ rear and H&R sports/ Koni Adjustable Shocks.

Now that the suspension is sorted out I will be doing:
GIAC or APR Stage II software
    Eurojet FMIC
    Eurojet TBE
    Eurojet Intake (once released)
    Go. Go. Go!
Should be around 300HP and 320 ft/lb of torque (not bad for a 2.0T).

Wheels will be BBS CK's painted gloss black.

Not bad. But don't go with the lame trend of black wheels. Few cars can still pull that off well.

Oh, for the love of all that is hole-y, why? It would take your car that looks crisp and sharp and ready to go - to lame.
What he said. Actually - few ever have.

If I added a poll - the black wheel [bad] idea for this car would lose by a landslide. But, I'm not gunna add a poll, 'cause I wouldn't wanna embarrass ya.

Don't put your ride down, that is a very cool car. Keep in mind that everyone here is a car guy first and foremost. F-chat is full of the coolest people in the world and the ones who pop up from time to time and are a pain in the arse are quickly drummed out by the likes of the F-chat police.

Back to your V-dub. I agree with avoiding the black wheels it looks pretty smooth as it is. There was a wheel back in the day that I thought looked good on the older gen GTI. It was the TSW VX-1. If you can find them in a 19 or so they will look sweet in silver. Good luck in law school and nice car.

    Congrats!

I have the 08 R32 (7th VW) - It is in the stable with the GT3 RS, 550, and 355 (other boring cars).

    Take care,

Yes, true, especially on Lambos of any color other than black - and even that is on a case-by-case basis. The green and orange Lambos look way better with regular color wheels IMO.

For the last 3 weeks I have been driving a regular, plain Jane Jetta to work. The car is much more fun and pleasing than my Lexus FS430, which I just sold 2 hours ago on eBay,

I'll tell you, as much fun as a plain Jetta is, I bet the OP's car is a scream!

I think people have forgotten how nice bright silver and polished wheels are. That's what I have on all my cars, and get many compliments.
Black wheels in general look like crap when rolling, and just look full of brake dust when stopped.

I figured as much. I am personally a fan of silver/ polished wheels... but for some reason not on white. It think I take inspiration from the lotus exige. It's the white/ black scheme.

Here are polished CK's. If I had a black GTI, they would be on my car already!

PKG 2 is the options designation that includes PKG 1 and added leather and dual zone climate control:

PKG 1 included plaid seats, sunoof, Sirius, etc..

These packages have been removed and the leather option is the "Autobahn" package.

Yes I am member of vwvortex. My 16,xxx posts have been extremely literate and for the greater majority, un-childlike.

I test drove the DSG and after talking to many DSG owners, opted for the 6MT. It seems as though it becomes very easy to let the car rest in the "D" position and you begin to push the car less and less. Also, at the time they were not sure about pumping extra HP through the dual clutch tranny.

Thanks for the kind words.. The car is very cool for the money, the title was merely geared toward the rest of the threads showcased in this "Cars, Motorcycles, Boats, & Planes" forum... But a $15-30k car (rabbit to R32) surely offers the best bang for the buck for me at this point in my life. I had my sights on a few higher end cars (E46, 335i, S4 avant), but I decided to put my monies elsewhere (house, school, wedding.) Not many people can say that they paid their way through lawschool with very little debt. In this economy and job market, it is proving to be the better alternative. Much of my class (at a non-Tier 1 school) are in for a rude awakening when they graduate with $200k+ of debt from undergrad and postgrad tuition. My budget is being increasingly contrained as I transition from a cush analyst position to my summer clerkship and future experience with two years of school remaining (of four).

I am an enthusiast at heart and appreciate Europeans the most. What better way to enjoy the euro "hot hatch" heritage then to drive a GTI?

    Cheers

Well I found a picture of black wheels similar to what I was thinking, and I think I have officially changed my mind. Thanks for your input.

    Back to square one.

Congratulations - if "back to square one" means keeping the current wheels, you and the car have already circled the bases like a home-run hitter.

If the wheels seem to have any disconnect with the rest of the car, it may be because of the: either it's #black# OR it's #white# schema running throughout the rest of the car's exterior.

How firm are you in your resolve that what IS #white# OR #black# stays that way?

    SWEET RIDE!

+1 on the no black wheels, IMHO it'll look hideous on the white. That said it's your car and **** anyone, do what YOU like to it! :D

not to take away but I'm really happy to be picking up my brand new (to me) '01 Jetta GLX in about a week, it'll be my first nice car (somhow a beat up '92 plymouth voyager doesn't quite stack up :p)

So yeah nice car, and good luck in law school!

    -David

EDIT: I've been doing a LOT of reading over at VWvortex, a GREAT resource (the thread with all the DIY's is awesome), but I don't think I'll join, it seems rather imature. The way I see it, if you don't like someones car, move on..... Just my Canadian 2c...

I think my issue with the Hufeisen's (current wheels) is that it introduces a third and fourth color. The wheels are machined on the outside and powder coated dark grey on the inners, which tend to give the wheels a "dirty" look when they are actually clean.

Unless I decide to go lower, there is a certain selection of wheels that just wont work/ fit properly. They will fit, but not "flow." I guess it is hard to describe.

Here is certainly an option, but this car is a tiny bit lower. They are 19" Helios from the Volkswagen Phaeton. I am a sucker for OEM wheels, but they tend to be heavy (32lbs!)

ducky...go look at the site for RH Wheels North America. they will show you some seriously kewel wheel options.

tell them that ferraripete told you that they would give you a "fairer" deal. joe has been tuning vw's longer than anyone in the states.

    have fun.

There's some Lotus Esprit pictures around here someplace with white wheels matching Monaco white paint of said cars [was it member; EspritSE ?]- owners and viewers alike shared their like for the appearance. May be worth your while to seek them out.
