http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-Lamborghini-Countach-/160838887781?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2572bea965 Certainly looks well built, and equipped. Bet a person could find, buy and sort a S3 LP400S or a 2-Valve 5 liter car for less than it cost to build this replica...
Looks like someone wanted a reliable and modern daily driver that looks like a Countach. kinda cool if you ask me. Id love a Countach made to more modern standards.
Agreed. Prob everything about it is better than the original,... except it's not. I'd rather get dizzy inhaling gas fumes in a real one... It's easy to make anything just a bit better. It takes genius to create an icon from nothing...
I have sat in this car and it is exceptional. To the untrained eye it is as close as it gets. Very fast, reliable and full of amenities. A really nice car!
Wow I hate "kit cars".....but.....Wow! VERY nice job! The workmanship is impressive, and that color looks just great!
It looks like fun. A bit pricey for a kit though. You could get a REAL Diablo for the opening reserve not met price.
misses the point completely I think... Where's the heart and soul of lamborghini in this ? anyone can get a girl to wear a Versace dress, but that doesn't make her a supermodel.
In my opinion, a car like this illustrates as much enthusiasm for the Lamborghini brand as anything. Here is a very well done, very expensive example which requires passion and knowledge to create.
I have nothing against kit cars, especially this one. The build quality looks superb to me. I wouldn't mind taking it for a drive myself to see what it's like. Chris
The interior of that car is AWFUL. It totally detracts from the car. Just about every kit car I have seen, tries to copy the original dash and interior. Had he done it that way, the car would have been so much better. Chadbourn Bolles
Guess I'll throw my 2cents in: It all comes down to the way he comes across and portrays the car. Act like it's real and you are an idiot. Be pround of what you made and state that you did, in fact, make it and you will be respected for what you have created. I have a couple of kits in my area and most claim real when asked. Burns me up, feel bad for the people asking.
I have to say that's a very good looking car and looks very well built, but i cannot find any reason to buy it. Better buy a real brand new Corvette, that is faster and has factory warranty. But very very beautiful outstanding car, even if it's not a Countach, it's just something that looks like a Countach to an unexpert eye. ciao
Are you sure a corvette is faster? Let's say you could choose this car or a new corvette (Z06), either are at no cost to you, no warranty and could not sell for profit. Which would you choose? Here in the states corvettes are very common. I'd take the cool kit car.
But if it was not limited to just those two choices? Since $75K is reserve not met,... who knows what he is thinking,... but I think $90K is likely the lowest the reserve would be... for 90K lots of great choices. 360. 550. gallardo. diablo. 997 cab or 997 turbo. new 991 coupe. bentley conti gt. lotus. series 1 XKE. The only "fake" I have a desire for is a Proteus C-Type... but a 917 would be really cool... Unfortunately,... at 90K... this car wouldn't make my top 10.
it should look nearly exact, as the ad states they used the Provo Design bodywork ...Provo's bodywork molds were made directly off of an actual 5000s
Better than most , but who would buy it? There is a lot of risk on it holding value. I think your a lot better off with a Factory Five GTM
+1. I'm fine with a well done replica/homage but not with badges/insignia that imply it is the real deal. Present it for what it is and enjoy it the same, don't live thru pretense. Several years ago I came across a guy driving a Cobra. I asked whether real or a replica and certainly expected to hear the latter. He stated it was the real deal and I later saw him and the same Cobra on an episode of My Classic Car with Dennis Gage. Oops, I left like an idiot.
Yes, i too have seen this car a few times in person and it is as nice a build as you will see, I dont think you will see anyone bidding at 76k and what i am thinking is 40 to 50k is what it is worth, when all is said and done it is still a kit. I belive he has over 200k into it as he had pretty well all the work done at shop rates and those hours add up quickly. I have seen a few builds that are well into the 100k range and you never get the money back.
Well said, Peter. If someone buys a kit car and tells everyone that it's real, then that person is really desperate for attention. But to me, there is nothing wrong with a replica. As you said, a lot of work goes into them, and I like to think of them as a tribute car. Chris
Hey, there's been a few time I was asked if mine was a kit and a few times I said yes just so not to have attention . I don't care.
Kind of funny but there was a thread many many pages long on our local car fourm and even most of the car guys thought it was real. It was a featured car at our local world of wheels and i have seen a couple of magazine write ups on it. Not many kits get that kind of attention.
