    Can someone tell me the dollar amount that the state of Kansas exempts before property has to go through probabte. For example the state of California allows up to $100K in proptery that does not have to go through probate.

    It's $25,000 but there are certain restrictions. Check out the following websit: www.ksbar.org and look at public pamphlets. You should find some helpful information. You could check with your county clerk (they can't give advise as it would be "practicing law"), but likely need to consult an attorney. If the individual owning the property is not currently deceased, you might want to explore titling alternatives to avoid the issue of probate. Again, your attorney should be able to give you the best advise regarding your personal situation.
