I have another quick question. I've noticed since buying my 360 last week that it won't let me fill the gas tank like any other car I've owned. It clicks off every two seconds no matter how full it is. Is this another Ferrari quark that I just need to live with, or is there something wrong? Is there something I can do to remedy this? It's no big deal, but just more of an annoyance than anything. Thanks.

It could have something to do with the flow rate. I usually have to hold the nozzel more upright and that seems to work. My 993 Porsche is the same way. Make sure the gas cap is put on fully. I thought I had mine on right a couple of times but found gas was sloshing up and out.

    Good Luck!!

I agree, mine is fussy too. Also, I've still not found a way to get the tank more than about 7/8 full. Once it gets near the full mark no matter how I play around with the nozzle it won't take anymore gas. Then when I start the car the guage does not show it is completely full.

The only time I have this problem, even in some of my other cars is when there is no "sealing sleeve" around the noozle. By "sealing sleeve" I mean the black like tubing that actually covers the noozle area and when pressed against the filling hole will retract and make a seal. There, is that a clear as mud???!!! LOL!

The only other reason it would not work is if you are not using Shell gas!!! LOL!

This seems to be a new and growing problem with all cars. I think it happens to do with the car vent line and smog laws aimed at reducing HC emmissions at the pump. I do not understand exactly why this happens or how these vents work and pumps trigger. If I could then it could be reengineered although maybe not smog legal. This is a real pain especially when you are on a long trip and you need a full tank of gas.

Are you getting gas at the same gas station all the time ??? I had the same problem. Switches gas stations and issue was resolved !!! Go figure.
I guess it has to do something with the nozzles and how much fuel comes out.............

One tip if you are prepared to REALLY pay attention is to insert the nozzle upside down. In my experience, this will cause the auto-shutoff NOT to function. What this obviously means is that you will pour gas all over the side of the car and ground when its full if you don't pay attention.

I find that *some* gas stations with no rhyme or reason as to brand just have pumps that won't fill without shutting off. I normally just fill slowly and with loads of clicks. I do sometimes use the above technique.

No warranty implied, do at your own risk, if you get gas on your pants, smoke and set yourself on fire its not my fault!

a lot depends on what station you use. Even then, you generally have to hold the lever at 1/2 or so. Try turning the nozzle about 45 degrees to point towards the front or back, sometimes that helps a little bit. The filler tube on the gas tank takes a sharp turn right near where the nozzle sits, so I believe that's what the problem is. Also, you are pumping into an effectively closed box (the vent is on the other tank and pretty small. So it's easy for the gas to back up and trip the pump into thinking the tank is full.

it happened on both of my 360s, here's a tip (usually works).. put the nozzle a little bit deeper, then raise it up a bit and set the notch to 2nd (middle one) for consistent filling. hope this helps

The faster the car, the slower I pump.

My normal cars (Cayenne, 540) allow me to set the pump on and leave it.

    My 911, sometimes.

    My 360, never.

I've just decided that my faster cars "want" me to hand-deliver the gas... they are higher-maintenance in all other respects, so why not here too :)

I had this problem, but it turned out to be a fairly common problem (according to the dealer) that in the earlier models there's a problem with the fuel guage. It never registers completely full even if gas is sloshing onto your feet. A quick trip to the dealer and they replaced some component of the guage, all fixed now.

the 355 was harder to fill than the 360. Still have to fill on "slow" setting. some gas stations have to do it by hand.

Advice: Do not light a match and hold it next to the filler tube to see if it's filling corectly. :D

I had the same problem on my 2004 Spider. It took about fiftry or sixty clicks to fill a tank.

Turned out it was a valve between the two fuel tanks that is supposed to equalize the level.
