I just bought an 02 360 Spider and am having some issues starting it. I read manual but can't seem to pinpoint the issue. It seems that I have to lock and unlock the car whenever I want to start it. For instance, I unlock it, starts fine, drive to friends house, park and go in to say hi without locking doors. I come back out a few minutes later, get in car, and it turns over but will not start. I get out, lock car, unlock car, get in, and it starts right up. There seems to be an issue with the car not being started within a certain period of time after it is unlocked. Anybody here have any insight into this issue? Thanks.

Its the security setting on your remote unit, pressed once is to unlock.

Press again is to unlock security setting than you should be able to start up the car.

I'm not certain if I'm simplifying things here but it sounds to me that your car is working normally.

The immobilizing system cuts of the gas supply after the car is left unlocked for several seconds or even a minute. You have to disarm it again to disable the gas or engine kill.

Normal as far as I understand the series of events in your statement.

I realize how the security system works, that is exactly how I am operating it.

Makes sense about the immobilizer though, I always need to relock the car when left unlocked for even a short period. Thanks

Rather than locking and unlocking you can turn ignition on and press fob button to enable.

If left unlocked, just get in the car, press remote once, and you can start it. No need to lock/un-lock...
