I have a 1997 355 spyder and my windows sometimes work, does any one have advise as to what the problem could be.

You may want to do a search on this, I remember a thread not too long ago from someone with the same issues. With spiders there are microswitches that are triggered with the top being opened or closed and any one of those may be giving you issues.

Open your door and check the connectors. They untwist counter clock wise. Then run a search of the archives on "slow windows". You'll find something like this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135138836 It's for a 348 but it doesn't matter because the 355 uses the same stupid connector.

Typically the problem is a wiring one (e.g. to the door as Ernie mentioned above), but on occassion it could also be a physical problem with the runners. The electric window motor turns in order to pull a cable in one direction or the other. This cable goes through two runners (each has parallel tracks) on which the physical connections to the window glass reside...so as the cable is pulled the window either goes up or down based on the cable travel direction.

Well, I bought a spare window unit and it came with one of those runners kinked, making the window connections just barely go up and down as desired. It was easy to unkink, however, and once unkinked the window zipped up and zipped down.

Besides kinking, it wouldn't surprise me if those runners required regreasing every now and again, too.

355's also have a window ECU. 348's don't have that window ECU, and since I've got a 348 instead of a 355 I can't offer much assistance on whether that window ECU might have some culpability to your problem.
