Dear all, Recently i have purchased a 2011 Ferrari FF from the official Ferrari dealer in Germany with only 10.000 km. After using the car for only 300 km the main hose of the AC system came loose from its quick coupling connector. the complete system was broken and the main AC hose must be replaced because of a bad quality quick coupler that is used to connect the main hose to the AC pump. This big hose is located in the right side of the engine bay, near the engine. I really am disappointed that this can happen with such a expensive car and that such low budget couplings are used by Ferarri in the AC system. I bought with the car 24 months power warranty, but what is included in this warranty is not clear at all when you ask for more information. The dealer is telling me now that this damage is not covered under the power warranty, and I must pay for the complete epair. If I had bought an Toyota or a Ford this would be covered by there warranty program and they should apologize for using such bad material. Does anyone ever experienced this also with the quick couplings that are used by Ferrari in the AC system?
This is par for the course with Ferraris. They are wonderful headaches. You must decide *right now* if you can get over this comparitively benign issue and can focus on the whole experience. Do not assume, especially with Ferrari, they put the best of the best parts in your car. Quite the opposite in reality. And an apology??? Dude. You're turning blue... Fix it and then go drive it. A lot.
Can you not ask the government consumer affairs dept for advice - you must have some rights in this situation. In the uk you can give a letter to the dealer saying you reject the car but would accept a suitable repair. Cannot see how a garage would say nothing to do with us ?
Surely you received a booklet with the terms ? This was posted recently to cover the terms (which may vary if you are EU not NA) - nonetheless note how often leaks are excluded http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boardwalk-ferrari-maserati/515587-2016-new-power-warranty-information.html
Firstly, welcome to the forum mate and congrats on the Ferrari. Sorry to hear of what happened, but I think it's just best to fix it and move on. Don't let a little problem like this put a damper on your Ferrari experience. Ferraris use of materials AND build quality over the last 10 years has left a lot to be desired. The Powertrain warranty will only cover the mechanicals of this car. The a/c hoses, just like belts and brake pads etc, come under 'wear and tear' items. So the a/c hoses and quick couplings will not be covered by your Powertrain warranty. Can you perhaps take the car to an a/c specialist and have them re-crimp a new quick coupling end onto the hose while the hose is in the car? If there is enough room to get the crimping tool in there, that is what I would do. If they can't do that, then replace the hose and be done with it. It's a shame it only lasted a long as it has. I wish you all the best with what you decide to do. Cheers Pap
Sooo.. what you're all saying is that Ferrari quality and materials are all poo, what then exactly are we left to enjoy? the experience of overpaying for poo? Seriously though, stuff like this is not tolerated in run of the mill daily drivers, yes I know they have there issues as well, but 9 times out of 10 the mfg will attempt to correct it without charging the customer. The Ferrari experience seems to be more of the kick the poo can down the road till it's someone else problem...
All you have to do is look to find most information like what is in the warranty. See if this helps. You should have the same paperwork in your owners manual packet. Air conditioning system is covered so do not let them charge you for that. I pulled it out of someone's post. Image Unavailable, Please Login
