Hello. My mechanic informed me that the manifolds of my 360 have to be replaced. They are rusty. I've spoken to other Ferraristi and they are very astonished because they never heard about such problems. What about you? Does anyone had to replace the manifolds? Why? Best Regards Gerhard
OK. You will not get lots of feedbacks as this is a very basic issue with Ferraris. For this particular subject, you could find 200+ threads and should go over and study them. Ferrari's OEM manifolds, both MK1 and MK2 are prone to crack. There was a recall but you have a 360 so it doesn't fit into the case. I own a 430 Spider so 360 might be different but I doubt it. Just replacing manifolds could do the trick. However, you will have to worry about it constantaly if you change it to OEM. In addition to that, a crack and a piece of metal can get into your engine and damage would be far worse than just manifolds. That is why most of Ferrari experienced owners change manifolds as their first thing. I am not an exception. Please look into aftermarket headers that will give you no worries going forward.
Exhaust manifolds are made from a grade of stainless steel and it would be very unusual for them to go rusty. The main issue is cracking. But a lot more common on 430's.
