I'm hearing rumors that Maserati is not making certain parts for the convertible tops anymore. Thus, when the top goes bad, and it appears that some are, you have to replace the whole top for $20K!

    Fact or fiction?

It was a fact already during production, so I doubt it changed at all...

My car had the fabric damaged by vandalism, but something was apparently slightly altered on the tops, so they weren't making the fabric anymore. Insurrance had to pay for a new top (over 20k USD)...I don't feel it's really fair.

Maserati of Seattle had new fabric made for the early cars that otherwise required complete replacement. They even offer a glass window option that was originally plastic in mine.
