They're planning on having the car on track around June 2010 as I read it! ;)

Nonsense, IMO. They're just going for cheap publicity.

Ferrari started full focus on the 2010 around July-Aug last year I believe. After all that, just a few weeks to go before the season starts, and only now they discover the problem? Doesn't make sense to me.

Works for USF1 too: After all a virtual car is all they have at this point.

I heard some more rumors regarding this and it ain't pretty. Domenicali and Alonso aren't just sandbagging.

As I said before, when "motorsport aktuell" airs a story, it normally is for a reason...

Lets have the car on track before we all press the panic button!. It's been mentioned many a time on here that just because the figures look good/bad in the wind tunnel or on the computers, it doesn't always relate as the same when the car gets on track.

If they show up with a 2008 rear wing and green paint on the sides, then we will know for sure!
In regards to sandbagging, they don't have the luxury of doing so anymore. The stakes are too high, too little testing time, and too much pressure to succeed after last year.
    Keep us posted Andreas
    thanks

i'm thinking the determining factor this season will be fuel economy, not aero packages or top speed.

if all these rumors are true, it would be very disappointing..i was looking forward to this year as and felt hopeful about Massa's return and Alonso joining the Scuderia..

I think he (Domi) is just messing around. Everyone knows that Ferrari started the development of the 2010 last season, possibly the first team to do so. I'm sure Ferrari knows everyone are expecting them to bounce back now, after a bad 2009 season, and with work on the new challenger started early, with Alonso on board....i think he's just messing around with everyone. Well, i think time will tell.

If aero is the setback, maybe this has something to do with it:

    http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5874724,00.html

Former Ferrari head of aerodynamics John Iley has taken up the same role with McLaren, a spokesman for the British-based Formula One team has announced.

The Briton left Italian outfit Ferrari last July after their 2009 car was overshadowed by eventual champions Brawn GP and Red Bull and began his new job at McLaren at the beginning of this year.

Ferrari has appointed Marco de Luca as their new chief aerodynamicist, while Nikolas Tombazis, who returned to the team from McLaren in 2006, is chief designer.

Mercedes-powered McLaren, who were fined a record $100million (£61m) in 2007 following a spying incident involving leaked information from Ferrari, have world champion Jenson Button and 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton as their drivers for the upcoming season.

This is pure speculation put out by a bored press. In the event Ferrari has early season trouble everyone will think the source is brilliant and insightful. If the season goes smoothly no one will remember this article.

Interesting. I hope Alonzo is not frustrated by the car this season. He is a fantastic driver who has been hindered by less-than-competitive cars the past couple seasons. Then again, so was Schuey compared to Renault the years Renault won

If this is true it will illustrate how important testing is.

It's one thing to save costs, but to artificially create a situation whereby a team like Ferrari are slow in relation to a team like Force India is just silly. Ferrari *should* get the benefit of their resources and success over the years.

Having said that, I won't be too upset if Schumi goes out and smacks down Alonso like a redheaded stepchild.

Hopefully the second car coming out in June will be competitive. But the WDC seems already lost.

That assumes that everybody elses car is miles better than the Ferrari from the beggining though. Like I've said already, worrying development as it is, I'll wait until the car is touching tarmac and see what the drivers can do with it before I write the season off.

Besides, if the Championship is as closely fought as it appears it is going to be, nobody is going to stretch out the sort of advantage that Brawn had last season, which means that it's not going to be impossible for Ferrari to sort themselves and catch up with the rest to give themselves a chance, even if it is only an outside one.

Against a lot of flak on here, I wrote last year's season off after 3 races. And I was right.

I have a feeling this season is already lost. We'll win some races, but not the WDC.

But compared to last season, I think there's going to be alot more competition for race wins so there's less chance of any one driver getting a massive points advantage (I hope!).

True. Hamilton, Vettel and MS will duke it out for the win each race and nobody will run away. Still by the time Alonso can join the fight it's probably too late.
