Recently I heard that Ferrari has made just over 100,000 road cars in its' history. How does this compare to some of the best selling cars of today? For example does anyone know how many Honda Accord's or Ford Focus's are produced in one year?? How many are coming out of the Ferrari factory a year now? If Ferrari has built 100,000 cars, does anyone have an estimate of how many are still on the road??

Just trying to figure out how rare our F-cars are.

For comparison, the 1999-2004 run of Porsche 996's was over 130K cars worldwide.

Actually, through July '05 anyway, Ferrari made 114-115K road cars. Here's how to figure: Until VIN # 75000, they used odd numbers only for road cars, so that's 37,500. My 430 that came in August was 143718, so that's 68,718 more. Add in about 8000 Dinos which ahd their own even numbered sequence and you get 114K+ and counting fast.

According to Ferrari their 100,000th car was chassis number 127690, which was a 575 M Maranello F1 "specially dedicated to Luca di Montezemolo". It is not clear to anyone else how they arrived at that particular car being the 100,000th! But, if we do take that as the 100,000th car then current production is around chassis number 145000, which makes around 117k or so I think (never was very good with numbers!). I have heard it said that something like 80% of all Ferraris ever made are still in existence although I don't know what evidence that is based on. Ferrari are currently making about 5,000 cars a year. By contrast Porsche make about 80,000 cars a year and the likes of GM and Ford will do the same in day!

Thanks for all the info. I own a 308, is there anyway to find out how many are still on the road? I think they made just over 3,000 308's total.

Just over 3,000 308 GTS Qvs, but 14,000 odd 308s in total (GTB, GTS and GT/4). I can't conceive of a way to know how many are still around all over the world, unfortunately. You would have to ask the licensing authority for every country!

Ferrari made 712 Fibreglass GTBs and 2185 Steel GTBs and a further 3219 GTSs
In addition there were the injected cars, 494 GTBi and 1743 GTSi

Then the 4 valve per cylinder QV versions
748 GTB QV and 3042 GTS QV

    Total 308 production was 12,143:)

I forgot about the GT4, there were 2826 of those so added to the 12143 Magnum type gives 14969

I've seen several posts and I believe one or two referenced the FML stating that there are only 100 Euro 308s in the US. Anyone know?

I know of 598 Euro 308s (GTB and GTS) that are or have been in the US. It is difficult to know at any one time how many there are as cars keep moving!

So with my car being 21181, your saying Ferrari had not yet built 11000 cars by the time my car was built in 1977? Just over 10,000 cars in 30 years is less than 350 cars per year. Ive known house builders who built more houses than that. Mr Ferrari could not have been very wealthy building so few cars with such high overhead.

Ferrari made very few cars (about 5K) in the first 20 years. Production didn't really get going until the Dinos came along. By 1977, most of the Dinos had been built, so total production was more like 18-19K at that time.
