Now I know this is gonna get some peoples panties up in a wad, but. I was reading another thread that talked about "man" sports. Someone brought up football soccer. I liked playing it as a kid, but as an adult I just don't like it. Espcially professional soccer. There are nothing but a bunch of premadona cry baby sissies in there. I don't see how it can be considered a mans sport with all the acting and faking going on. They will be running down the field, and one of them bumps the other. The next thing you know he is rolling on the ground as if his leg were amputated with out the use of anesthetic. Acting up a storm, and faking that he is hurt oh so bad. What a joke.

Take hockey. These guys take some hard hits. Then they get to fist fight, beating the crap out of each other, until they fall to the ice. They get put in the "time out" box, and then go right back to playing. No sissy acting about "oh look at me, I'm so hurt".

How about American football. Anyone who has seen it knows that these guys take, some of the hardest hits of any sport. You will see a guy catch a ball, to then be hit so hard his helmet flys off. What does he do? He gets up brushes the grass off, puts his hemet back on, and gets right back into the mix. If one of them is on the floor, it's because they are knock out, or something broke.

Then we have good old Boxing. These guys literally are in the ring trying to beat one another unconscious. They get broken and bloody noses, black and cut open eyes. Do they cry and tell the ref "ouch he hit me". Nope they get pissed if the doctor stops the fight!

I hate to disapoint some of you, but soccer is not a man sport. It is fully of little premadona cry babies, and until you get rid of the sissieness, it never will be.

ehem? Hockey has a lot of whiney *****es, so whiney infact that they won't play because the millions they are getting already isn't enough! If you were a man you wouldn't want the millions of dollars to play a sport.

Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Ricky Williams....Just the tip of the iceberg of the NFL whiners. The NBA is a disagrace. Ron Artest beating the crap out of fans is an example. MLB players aren't much better. I don't watch hockey for fights, I watch it for the HOCKEY. And remember, these guys get just on average 15-18 minutes a game, and are loaded with a ton of equipment. Soccer players play 90 minutes a game, with restricted subs (3 a game in most leagues) and no equipment. If I want to see two guys beat the crap out of each other, I'll watch Jerry Springer or Boxing. Soccer is meant to be a more fitness-game, yet you still need the physical skills to be a good player. Just because you don't pound the crap out of someone doesn't mean it's less of a sport. Golf is a sport, yet requires no physical contact.

I play semi professional soccer in australia and i will admit the sport has its share of sissies.
However, unfortunately its part of the game so you just have to live with it and the sport still has its fair share of hard, solid tackles where players will just get up and get on with it.
Further, it was never soccers intention to be a rough-and-tough, "lets break legs and have fights" sort of sport, its a game of skill, endurance and artistry that is to be appreciated by the millions of fans world over, not violent entertainment for blood thirsty people ignorant to the best sport in the world

    Soccer is footsie.

Yankee football has way, way, way, way, too much downtime & protective gear.

    I dig ARF & Rugby.

ernie, you have obviously not seen high level professional football being played in europe. all the acting aside, the level of fitness that these guys have to have is beyond manly.

Yeah, professional soccer is not a man's sport. Otherwise they would have to use steroids like all the real sports like baseball.

Erm, isn't a sport supposed to be about something other then just getting hurt?
Btw. Rugby (especially aussie rules) makes US Football look like a Abercrombie&Fitch salesman convention. (Even though I prefer American football).

    Baseball ... that's a laugh ... girls play that over here, aged 6 - 11 years.... it's called rounders.
As for "world series", what's that all about ? only you boys in the US are foolish enough to publicly partake in a young school girls' game.
American Football ... that's an even bigger laugh ..... in all of my forty nine years, have i yet to see anything more pointless. Just what is the point of it all ?
    cheers, d
