That's right. Because it takes a man to suck it up and keep going.

If golfing is a sport, and fishing is a sport, does that make them athletes? Hahahahaaa! NOT.

    Don't worry. :)
But really, I don't "hate" golf. I just hate I can't play it due to my wrists (I can't swing the way they are). I do enjoy watching Tiger Woods on tv. I just like to think I hate golf. :)

soccer isnt, hockey is the 'manliest' sport of all. not a doubt about it. football is second because you run for about 15 seconds and then you get a 30-45 second break. hockey is on the fly all the time. also, in football your holding the ball so you can look for guys who are trying to rip your head off with their shoulder. in hockey, you have to keep control of that little black rubber at your feet while watching for the same precautions. ive played both for about 10 years, quit soccer 2 years ago, and hockey is much more intense and demanding of your body's physical limits than football.

Of course as a State Soccer Coach, I have a little different view of soccer. If you haven't played soccer at a high competitive level, you have no comprehension of how difficult the game really is. The field is 120yds X 80yds, the ball never stops. The game changes from attack to defense, and back again on the fly. All players have to work as a unit to cover so much space. There are no time outs and the coach can't help you if you are getting owned. Soccer is just about the only game played entirely while standing on one foot. You can't manipulate a soccer ball with both feet on the ground. Try skating on only one foot or playing rugby or American football standing only on one foot. The balance of a professional soccer player approaches that of a world class gymnast. The fitness required is astounding. At the World Cup in Japan/Korea, Claudio Reyna of the U.S National Team covered over 7 miles in the game against Germany. All that in 90 minutes.

Of course if you don't like soccer then my explanation will do nothing to change your mind. But claiming soccer isn't a manly sport is sort of retarded.

I wouldn't go so far as to claim fishing is a sport. My take on that issue is that if you can drink beer and your performance shows no signs of decline, I submit you are not playing a sport. Now if I drink beer and play golf, my score goes up. So, from my vantage point golf must be a sport.

Now, what about bowling? I don't think my score is very dependent on being sober. Of course if I was a professional bowler, I think my score might suffer.....but maybe not.

I have played many sports throughout my life and I ended up being a gymnast and it was by far the hradest sport of all. no sport with a ball can even hold a candle to it. i do love all the other sports. They are fun to play but not hard at all.

You guys can call Alan gay all day for all I care. However, rest assured he has one of the most beautiful Brazilian spouses on the board.

Nice to see you posting on the board Doc, hope the car sale is going well. :)

To stay on topic: I find soccer rather boring to watch. It is however fun to play on a sunday at a park with a bunch of friends.
