    hi all

was in andermatt yesterday and had a meeting with pius russi again about the planning of the fcat-rally.

the schedule remains roughly the same as announced. we are trying to get the road from Göschenen to Gwüest and up to the lake of Göscheneralp closed on friday aug 20 for our free pleasure. please check on map:

http://www.map24.ch/map24/index.php3?map24_sid=75f8dcb9cbe97a69e5ee38a859a8e953&street0=Stra%DFe&zip0=PLZ&city0=g%F6schenen&country0=ch&gcf=1&maptype=JAVA&force_maptype=RELOAD&x=0&y=0 (zoom out to see the "Göscheneralpstr." to the west)

the road is about 13 km and has some nice twisties and hairpins ;)

further news will follow the next days!

    Ciao Trevi.

Just two lines to keep this on top of the list and to humbly ask if there is any news. When do you reckon that a more substantial commitment is required to book hotels etc.
    Let us know.

Ciao and thanks for your time spent in organizing this.

actually, i'm waiting for feedback from pius russi, as he has to check the next issues. but as it looks like, there are no major issues concerning the organization anymore. deadlines will be set to the latest possible moment and will be posted as soon as known.

sponsoring is the issue left in the moment, gotta take care of it more seriously. we should have sponsors atleast for the dj of our friday nite party, also for the t-shirts i think. any ideas are still welcome. (i know, i still should provide a sponsoring paper, it's in preparation!)

    Thanks a lot Trevi,

do we realy need a DJ?????
If this would be the problem / money.....no DJ! I don`t dance and always prefer a good conversation with friends. There is no way for conversation in a Disco?!
About the shirts: We pay them;) Each participant who will order one or two shirts - will pay for the shirts.
I would prefer to pay €uro 20,- / 30,- for a wonderful shirt with just our fchat logo - instead of paying only 10,- and a CONDOM or Milka advertice on it:D

    just my poor 0,00002 cents;)

I do not agree with you Wolfgang. I think a DJ is a good idea. Please remember that we can't talk anymore after 10 - 20 beers ;-)

Hahahahaha - that is o.k. I appreciate to have a shirt without any commercials ;). Don't print a condom on the shirt but have it in your trousers in case of ..... (lalalalalaaaaa....)

    With red wishes

it will be in a local disco, but according to the number of expected participants, we would maybe have to book the whole venue for our group. and then, it's also a question of the preferred sound.

@marc Hedge - I have been playing around with my GPS software this morning, and here's the kind of route that we will have to follow to Andermatt (about 1,150km).

And here's the route map from Dover, without the busy map details. We get closest to Wolfgang at about Strasbourg and should maybe try to meet the German contingent there.

Interesting to note that the route takes us through Alsace and past the villages where I have found family graves....see the red crosses on the map! Debra and I have also visited Colmar a number of times, and there is some GOOD Riesling to be consumed (or purchased) there! :D

The straight dotted line that heads north-west (to the west of Delville Wood) is a plot of the route we recently flew with Alitalia from Milan to London!

    Cheers, MARK

Just my 0.2p. This is the normal route I drive from UK. Tocross the channel I use Norfolk lines (cheaper...)
Once in continental Europe (yes, the place where people drive on the wrong side of the road), Motorway up to Reims. Then N44 to Chalons-en-Champagne, Vitry-le-francois, St. Dizier, N4, Toul,Nancy, Luneville, St. Dié.
At this point you have tyhe choice for the tunnel (Direction Selestat) or the Mountain pass (Colmar). Both ways, you are on the motorway inbound Basel.
IMHO, this is the most enjoyable way to Andermatt!

    See you there.

    Ciao

    Eugenio,

You've done this a lot more than I have, so any advice is MUCH appreciated! If you think that's the better route...I will take your word for it! I just entered my point of departure and ultimate destination and let the computer figure out the rest! I will program your route into the system too.

So, the Norfolk line....between what two ports do the ferries run?

    Cheers, MARK

Be very careful at Reims: you can easily get lost. And I speak for personal experience.

For sure the route from Eugenio is a bit shorter / more direct to the destination......but you will miss the German HIGHWAY:D
Anyway, let me know right in time and we could meet us wherever you want.
We are driving from Farnkfurt - Heidelberg - Basel - Andermatt.
Just another idea: If you would like to arrive 1 day earlier in the Heidelberg area, stay here for 1 night and a beautiful dinner at NINO. We could drive the rest together to Andermatt - thats half of the way for you. Let me know and its a pleasure for me to arrange something......also thinking about the Belgium, Netherlands drivers coming from North?! You could also meet up with them driving together.

I just received a fine from the Swiss police. 100 CHF (77 euro) for doing 115 where 100 was allowed! Not too bad!
