I recenly purchased a 2003 360 Spider and was told they had all controls and keys. All they can come up with is the red master and one key. Denver Ferrari will sell a set of three ,2 blk and on red for 726.00 . They say I need the PIN # which I have located with the books. I am told it is quite complicated to attempt this myself . The closest autorized center is 225.miles one way.
Any suggestions other driving or transporting the car from Spfd MO to the St Louis area. Could a Ferrari tech talk me through it ? I do not feel comfortable with one control. The needed additional key is expensive but no prolem to get.

I recommend you confirm the code you have works before ordering the fob kit. If it does you will be able to start the car with it while the imobilizer is active.

Send me a private message on Wednesday and I can answer any questions you have on fobs. Meanwhile, take the programming document and learn how to start your car with PIN and key alone. If you can do that (you can), programming your Alarm ECU is a snap and takes less than 5 minutes.

Since you have the pin code, not too much risk in loosing or damaging the 1 remote you have. You should try starting the car using the pin code (cycling the key, see instructions) to be sure it is correct. If you like, buy a black remote from "Remotez 4 less" $140, 1866-644-2190 (also on ebay) or similar supplier. I called them and ordered over the phone. You can send your red remote and the new black one to me. I will read-out the eeprom in the red remote and clone it to the new black one for you if you like. If you are happy with the results, you can pay me what you think is fair. Other option is to make sure your pin works, then buy the full new set of 3, with the new pin for $600-$700. You still must make sure your pin is working first!

Mike- I added you to my list of people who can clone fobs. List is getting longer.

If that single fob malfunctions, he is screwed, and would be forced to buy a new set of three fobs since he has the PIN. Meanwhile, it would mean going through the key and PIN only exercise every time he wanted to start the car until a new set with new PIN showed up perhaps several months down the line. That is how long it took to get mine.

The logical thing to do is to have his single fob cloned one or two times, or order a new set while the single fob is still operating. I need red fobs and PINs as eric355 and I work to decode the PIN in the EEPROM. If you buy a new set, I will buy your old red fob and old PIN from you, cutting down your cost.

Ok Taz, I'd be happy to help any of the fellas... Thanks to you and Eric for the previous posts which made us aware of the possibilty of doing this in the first place! I am more interested in giving back to this community, than anything else. I have fixed many problems with the help of our friends here!

Mike- That is great. Eric and I have been trying to get the whole process documented so owners can save some effort, money, and, especially, frustration. It paid off for Eric, too, he now has a matched set of three fobs and a new PIN for his 355 at a real bargain price. He got started because he only had one black fob and needed a clone for security.

If we could just find a good wholesale source for fobs, we could really help out people.

Been dealing with this one for a bit now. Got a new set of fobs and new pin to replace the one blk one I have with no pin-code (it went to the grave with the previous owner....) As you can see this is a dilema, which I've solved thanks to the West Coast Ferrari N.A. Rep and Ferrari Italy, with I must say a bit of guidance from Terry! If anyone wants to know the story they should call me. Sport Mode is NOT an option

Doug- If you PM me on how you pulled off receiving the PIN code, I will put it into the programming document and we can remove one more potential frustration for other owners.

Congrats on figuring out how to do this. It has been expensive for several other owners going through other FNA dealers. Unless, of course, their dealer really liked them, and then it was free.

Yes, the problem is that the dealers are beholden to Maranello, who charge them a hefty fee, so either the dealer eats it or they pass it along at their cost (and of course some mark it up).

In brief this is the deal: The original Pin is held by head office (Italy) and it exists there-and only there- in the main car data bank which is not accessible by Ferrari N.A. It cannot be retrieved from the cars computer system and YOU NEED IT to re-program the new code for the new fob sets. My position was that being the lawfull owner of said vehicle the original pin is MY PROPERTY ALREADY... this didnt fly and believe me I was persistant!. The west coast rep for Fer. N.A.(nice guy) told me that if he owned my car he would have to do the same thing too! Long and short- I ordered the original pin code- which is being delivered to my dealer- sealed FOR MY EYES ONLY...Fort Freakin Knox!! The retail $ for the code is around $500, they cut me some slack, and I'm yet to get the bill, but I believe It's around $380+tax There you go boys!
If your about to buy, ASK FOR THE ALARM CODE... Hey I'm not even mad, I think it's downright Hillarious- but $400 buys a bit of beer....
