Progress over seventy five years

While watching the news tonight I realized how much has changed since I was a kid. Excluding all of the technical advances like radio, TV, jets, Diesels, etc. I am impressed and pleased by the presence of so many blacks in our lives now. From our president to the plethora of competent black politicians and entertainers (sometimes inseparable) and the very good communications personalities on TV news and in the film industry. When I went to school at Duke after the war the only blacks we saw were working in the cafeteria cleaning up. No black students.
When I was a kid if I took a disliking to a black person , all I had to do was to tell a cop that he or she said something that I didn't like and that person would have been arrested no questions asked. I post this not as a political item but to illustrate how much has happened in my life.
