Momentous day today guys . This week we fitted a new clutch master cylinder (literally took 20 mins to fit and bleed) and then checked clutch operation .... slipping in and out of gears fabulously . Then got the car moving under its own power for the first time in approx 10 years ... YAHOOOO !!!! Only moved the car back and fore the length of the workshop , but it felt incredible . Today the car was picked up by trailer and brought home to my garage... Here she will have all the nice work undertaken .... Bodywork machine polished and detailed Interior cleaning , leather restoration Engine detailing Brakes , suspension , wheel arch cleaning Bumper overhaul and repaint And probably a whole lot more .... Its been a bloody great day !!!!!!!!!! Photos show her in her new home, and with her younger 360 sister Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A question do...did you put a NEW master or did you use the seals I send ? And did you changed the slave clutch seal also ? Looking very good ! Guido
Hi Guido .. I managed to pick up a new master cylinder just before the seals arrived , so decided to fit this . No worries, as i will overhaul the master and slave cylinders ; and that means i will have spares just in case . cheers .
Beautiful car and well done for taking it on. I look forward to seeing pics of the finished article. Good luck and happy motoring!
Thanks Sean .. the nice work has begun . I have now fully polished the bodywork , vacuum cleaned interior and boot . The front bumper on the passengers side does not fit correctly - it looks as if someone has stood on it in the past .. so my next task was to remove it completely for repair. Removed the alloy grill and bumper Found that the bodywork and paint behind the bumper is in superb condition. Next step is to strip down the bumper for repair and new paint . I will remove the rear bumper and take them both to the paint shop together ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi .. These are the photos i have . Back bumper now also removed . Both bumpers are being taken to the paintshop tomorrow . The rear of the bumpers have some corrosiomn on them but they will be sandblasted and repainted ... More photos to follow . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Lovely job, car looks sound too. Ps. We like Lotus posters in our Ferrari garage.....I have 3 of them
Thanks Bell Thats from my 33 year connection with Lotus ... just love them . Luckily owned in the past .. Esprit - S2 , S3 , S3 Turbo , V8 . Lotus Sunbeam S2 , and Europa S2 which i sold to make room in the garage for 'Scarlet' (named by the previous female owner , NOT me honest !!! ) All bumper parts now being taken to the paintshop tomorrow as the weather was horrendous here today . Took advantage and began overhauling all the bumper lights in my man cave ..
Oh wow you've had more even more Lotus' or Lotie than me! We want an S1 Esprit with tartan interior. Anyway I think I need to get my front and rear bumpers off and rain proof them asap. Regards Bell.
Hi Guys Would someone please measure the dimensions of the foam on the front compartment bonnet /hood , that sits above the radiator . I need the dimensions as mine has completely disintegrated so needs to be replaced . Doubt that i will be able to do any work on the car today, as the wife is complaining that i am spending too much time in the garage , and that christmas is only 2 weeks away . She wants to put up the tree , trimmings and lights .... Bah Humbug !!!!
Do you understand now why I changed the OEM bumpers with the 3.2 polyester ones ! Those OEM are way to heavy. Steel all over them. Guido
Hi Guido .. not interested in the weight of them , its all down to personal preference . I want to keep the car as original as possible apart from the wheels ( simple to change back to originals) My bumpers are now with the paintshop , and will be gleaming when completed . They are coming back to me in January due to the Chritmas holidays // will post pictures then .
Leighton, I have used a foam panel that gardeners use to kneel working in their garden. It has just the right thickness and withstands heat. Enzo52
Looks very good Leighton! Never saw the inside of these black bumpers. Not sure if the designer was inspired by the Eiffel tower
Has anyone removed the 2 panels that the wiper arms sit in .. Mine are faded and need some paint .. wondering if you can just remove the arms and undo the screws ,or is there also sealant holding them in place ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yup you can, no sealant. I take mine off every year to take our branches and leaves and replace a self-made activated carbon filter on the Air conveyor. You can polish these panels very easily with a plastic polisher using makeup remover pads. You can rub them very good between the splits. I use Meguiar’s Motorcycle Plastic Polish Product number: MC20506 If you still want to paint use a plastic primer first though!
