I believe they put a Mustang engine in the last Bond movie Vanquish so they would have the room to convert it to 4 wheel drive for the frozen lake chase scene.

that is the same thing I said,
...but I guess its for the ability to say that its a V12,
    and one of a kind.
as for power a ford block Windsor 351 would fit right in there same as stock,
    stroke it to a 427 @7L, 12.1 comp.. I've seen pull OVER 700 Hp and 600lbs.
And I would be a fraction of that 12 price engine.
..... So Its obviously for the rarity of it, Not the power

IMO I think that engine could have been put to much better use in an exotic kit car, but to each their own.

The answer to why? Just glanced at the page, but caught it quickly: SEMA.

For that show, it needs to be an attention getter, and with that motor in there, it is sure to be.

sheesh - it's nice work but I'd be more impressed if it was a car nut doing it out of their own pocket rather than corporate sponsored showcar builders.
It's easy to write a check to pay a crew to do all the work

I tried to use the Aston engine but roadblock we ran into was the inlets on the intake manifolds were up against the strut towers...
Not to hijack the thread but we went with a BMW V12

I saw another guy put a Viper V10 in his car... impressive too but personally I'd rather have a 12
    :)

I would much rather see it go into an Ultima. That would be a fun ride.

They did, actually they did it to a few Astons for this reason. I saw the actual cars from the movie at Ray Catena Aston Martin a couple years ago, they were completely stripped on the inside and used just for that purpose.

Very interesting! It doesn't look like they've had an update in a while, does anyone have any more information?

Kewl - yours looks to be an Alpha1 as well..
ours started that way, though it has gone through changes.. to every panel :)
if you're ever in the area you are welcome to hear/drive ours.
The 12 required a lot of mods to get it in there but it will be neat.
It's coming home from paint in the morning. It is going to be making it's public debut from it's makeover in one week at the Veterans Hospital show. This year the FOC (midwest) has adopted the VA show so it will be in good company :)

Eyy! Respek respek! The car does well in Grand Am.

It's a cool project though. Engine swaps are all good though....provided they don't try to transform the car into something that it isn't!

Like maybe ... well nevermind :).

    Yes it is :)
converted to dry sump with a 6 speed and aftermarket fuel/ignition management..

it is what it is... a car.. a pile of parts personalized with creative touches by mildly insane owners..
lots less boring in my opinion than being stock..
I used to have old Vettes and got tired of the people whining that my hoseclamps didn't have the right datestamps

since escaping that crowd I've treated every mildly exciting car i've had like a streetrod.. :) basically a good start but not finished till I got to act like an individual with a mind of my own and make the changes to make it different

I don't have the gall to force my opinion on the people who stick with everything stock, and just ask that others respect my rights to individual expression

last bit not directed at you Auraraptor
... more about the killjoys out there who have a problem with people with different opinions :)

    Nice car Wes!!

Chelle, great choice of engine! I am of a M73 freak with one in my E38 and 2 in crates my garage. :) (in fact the BMW V12 logo as my avatar is for a M70/73 equipped cars)

I am getting a set of heads from the M73 worked up and trying to source intake manifolds as we speak. Parts are a bit harder to find for the M73 sadly.

A good set of extruded intakes max. for flow should put near 400 hp with free exhaust and everything tunned on these engines. Keep us updated with your project and best of luck!

    Omar,
I know a guy with one in a Ultima, he's making considerably more power. He is also working on offering a full line of power parts for these engines. Aftermarket cams were one of the first on his list when I last spoke with him
His name is Jay Esterer http://www.ultimav12.ca
It's been a while since his page was updated, it says 408 hp, however it makes more now.
he's now running short runner intales with 325i throttle bodies.
Our eventual plan is to fabricate an intake with individual runners with 12 throttle bodies down the middle :)
Exhaust is 4 pipes all the way back
I've seen some twin turbo systems on these but it's hot enough under the hood. As it is we designed a system of fans to force hot air out the slots in the front fenders. With any luck that will make the car more drivable in the heat than it was last year
    Chelle
