I doubt if Dr wants to disclose the s/n, but this is definitely not TM's car (38181), which is a later Series II or III car (the cut-off and clues being vague as each car was basically custom-made). This is a Series I car. I am speculating, but as Bradan asked, it could be ex-NART (26683). I rather think it's 29509, though. 26683 has an elaborate NART blue and white striping pattern. I recall that striping as being painted on, but it's been a while since I've seen it. Either way, it has the upgraded wheel hubs and and a few other clues including endurance lights on the passenger door. Testing nose, too. CW
Sharp eye... does not have the original panels as we have fitted with race replacements and are keeping the original off until testing is done. Do not have the graphics on yet. that will be last for sure. Clue: Ex. le mans, ex daytona... not todds.... Regards, Jim
Unless my information is dated... Of the Series I cars with Daytona and Le Mans histories, 26681 (cloud car...ex-JF, currently with JG/GTC in EUR), 26683 (ex-NART, currently with PF in US), and 26685 (cloud car...currently with NCH in EUR). Other Series I cars: 27577 (Green...currently with NM in EUR), 27579 (Red...Never raced...in EUR), 28601 (Red...currently with JB in EUR), 29507 (Red...Never raced...currently in EUR) and 29509 (Red...Never raced...currently with JF in US). Once you get to LK's 29511, you begin to see the Series II bodywork. TM's 38181 is a Series II or, possibly, III. That cut-off is somewhat vague. 26683 CW
We have a winner.... Yes it is CN# 26683 mostly all of the componet restoration has been done and we are now reassembling. Regards, Jim Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, we have been going at it for a while and hopefully we are on the home stretch with it. We will be posting pics of the reassembly steps as we progress. Regards, Jim
When the Historic Challenge was operating, BBLMs were in Class 6A. Class 6 had the 512S/M. However, since it's now defunct, I think the BBLMs may only be judged in the Concours. Class 13, IIRC, Racing. However, BBLMs would also be eligible for a number of Cup awards. CW
Great project! I love these cars. Looking forward to more detailed pictures. I assume not much carry over parts from the production vehicle?
Actually, a fair bit of the original BB hardware is under the skin. Basic chassis, block and transmission. CW
