Think about it for a second. You paint a very rosey picture of your relationship, but from your stories it seems that the two of you have not had to overcome anything yet. YOU WILL. When you do, it will test your relationship and your resolve. Every relationship seems great when things fall perfectly into place. Far fewer seem so great when faced with adversity.

Promise rings and engagement rings(that have a 1 year+ engagement attached to them) are nothing more than a boys way to tie up a potential mate while he makes up his mind...period. Boys talk about what they're "going to do", men act. If you want to marry her, then quit flirting with the issue and marry her. Buy a ring, ask her and tell her she has 2 months to plan a wedding.


I wish you no ill will, but I've watched this scenario play out with friends before and I promise you this...if you have her planning a marriage today and it doesn't happen within the year, she's gonna cool off toward you and build resentment toward you. Mental masturbation doesn't provide fulfillment for very long. Tread carefully.

 

Good post here......Chase- read it over , and OVER. the first part. I was in a LTR as well, and marriage came to mind...I was told by close SINGLE friends the same thing, "if you really wanted to marry her, you would make it happen" none of this, think about this, a little later, think about that and so on....when you do know, there is none of this nonsense....

and yes I am anti-marriage, well at least for now and in no rush AT ALL.
