I'm having a hard time finding proof of a warning decal fitted originally by Ferrari to the radiator expansion tank in the engine compartment. Some say it is original and others say it is not. The problem is that most cars have had their tanks replaced because they are so fragile. Does anyone have some photographic period proof that the expansion tank did carry a decal and where would the decal have been placed?

Can you post a pic of what you are trying to make a determination of?

Rob is trying to determine if this label is really supposed to be on the expansion tank, and if so, was there a specific and consistent placement on the tank...everyone knows how picky he is...;-)

    Repro labels are readily available.

P.S. please ignore the many incorrect things you might be able to pick on in this photo...it's from July 2011 and much has been corrected.

I bought reproduction labels for both of my Dinos from Italian Car Parts. The original label on my newer Dino (04808) had been on the front of the expansion tank, toward the top, and close to the right side of the tank, just about the opposite of the placement shown in your photo. Unfortunately, I have no photos of the original placement. I know that it was original with the car, so I have no concerns with the placement having been correct. Obviously, I have no knowledge of the sticker placement on any other Dinos, and in fact the original sticker was missing from my older Dino (03964) when I purchased it from the former FAF in Atlanta, in late 1982. Ron, this is the correct position, picture taken by yourself, #07920
but your tank might didn`t have a sticker originally at all..

I would think early version brass tanks did not have the sticker (206 GT and L-series....).
When the introduction of the sticker precisely happened, unfortunately no idea...
I would think during M-series or beginning of E-series production..... with the change to the later version tanks maybe

I just now noticed the differences between my tank and the one in your picture...seem along length of tank top plus filler neck are both very different.
