I recently aquired an aluminum sensenich 2 blade propeller with a 1/4" ding in the leading edge. Other than the ding, it appears to be fine. Is there a value to these as a core or are they ever fixed and put back into service? I was told it camer off of a C150

I was planning on polishing it and hanging it on a wall but won't be doing that if it has some residual value in its current state.

I have seen props with that kind of damage that have been dressed and balanced and put to use on an airplane.

If it was serviceable it seems probable that someone would have tried to do so. However, that depends on how it got into your hands. You can look this over

    http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/0/895eff1883ee06768625707b00727fd6/$FILE/AC%2020-37e.pdf

pp.23-24 discusses the limits of rework allowed (if the mfr has not published superceding guidelines) and maybe find a local A&P to talk to about the value and costs. Note, the prop may have to be NDT'd for stress cracks and rebalanced also.
