    Welcome to the Forum!

I think they do slip the clutch more from rest- it is said that city-based F1-boxed cars get through clutches quite quickly.

I suspect it is a case of you finding a compromise between aggressive launch and gentle clutch-slipped launch; this will, I dare say, come with more familiarity through practice with the car.

At the end of the day, a new clutch isn't too expensive!

    Enjoy the car,

    Robert.

Welcome. I recall you from Rennteam.com. I've got an '01 360 and my starts in first still are rather jerky. The best thing I've found is take it easy and feather it a bit until you can get it in second and then take off faster. Not knowing what year your car is they upgraded the software to make it much smoother in later models. How do you like it compared to the 997S?

i dont know if it is significantly improved or not as i have not driven earlier models, but my 04 spider is quite jerky in 1st gear as well, especially when i try to gun it from a standstill. the best thing i find as well, is to go slowly, and then step on it in 2nd gear.

Don't feather it, the computer can't deal with it, put it one inch down, when the clutch locks up, hit it, and hit it hard.

you know ,when everybody tells you they are not comparable ,it is very true .in the 997s you feel you are in very well engineered car or sports car ,you can drive to the limit easily.but when you get in the modena you FEEL you are in a supercar ,not in a car or a sportscar ,you feel you are in something different .
both are great cars ,and they are very very different ,now i understand more rc when he says they are not comparable.
master engeneering is in the 997 ,emotions and adrenaline are in the modena.....

Right, and make sure ASR is off too..... I'm sure if you're looking to jack rabbit away this would work but for smoother starts I'd rather ease into it. I don't have any problems doing that, just the occasional bouncing/jerking you get until in second.

My '04 was jerky at first but I got a little used to it and with practice you can sense the clutch engaging and apply throttle evenly and it smooths out. Don't feather the throttle as it confuses the computer. You can always start in second gear too. Its way smoother and the manual says its OK to do this. Whenever I'm with the wife, and I must be smooth, I use a second gear start. When I'm alone, rev it evenly and as soon as the clutch engages, I say hammer it.
