    Strange! I don't recall having a problem with this when I did a full brake overhaul.

    If the hose is disconnected that's easier, as it clears the room for regular spanners. But spilling beeak fluid all over the place is the kind of messy job I'd rather avoid.

    I've had that problem too.
    I used a very "flat" ring spanner, that looked like it had been pilfered from a car tool kit of some sort.
