I would like to add a good traffic infraction lawyer to my celphone. I drive mostly in northern NJ and Southern NY. I figure, why wait until I get a ticket and have a court date to meet?

I've got ticket-problems.com but I think that Hempstead is on the Island. Anyone have some other recommendations in my area?

Figure if someone hits me with a ticket rather than worry I would turn it over for negotiations right away.

Call the court and ask who the most active ticket attorney is there.

What a racket! Throwing your money away. Better off finding good/great local representation that specializes in traffic court than the one correspondent firm that signed up to be local rep for Pre-Paid.

If the money you paid each month went into some sort of escrow fund that would grow into a typical retainer fee, my opinion would change. All I got was one "threatening" letter mailed to whomever the member had an issue with. Anything beyond that required for a $1000+ retainer. They sell you false peace of mind.

Ask whoever is trying to sell you a Pre-Paid membership how much commission money they make off of each sucker!

FYI, PPLS gives provides an attorney for in court legal representation for all traffic violations except DUI and vehicular homicide free of charge as part of your membership ...you also get a substantial discount on fees for other type of legal matters...

I was wondering about that too. I think (hope) he intended to say proactive. Or maybe his Trojan broke and he is looking for an attorney to sue someone in order to pay for the birth expenses, child support, etc.?!?!

If you have to "pull the trigger," on a legal dispute or your safety, SMITH & WESSON, is a good name to trust. :)

    "FYI, prophylactic means preventative!"

...if you don't get out much and spend your life locked up at home with Webster's unabriged dictionary.

"and does not necessarily designate a condom...unless you are"

...using the term in the matter generally understood by normal members of American society.

When did "normal" start meaning illiterate? From the context of the heading it was clear the poster was referring to legal services and not birth control...

I bought stock in PPD about a decade ago at ~$5 per share and sold most of it a few years back at over $40 per share . While its Sales Associates do sell it on a MLM type program...it ready does provide some good basis legal services for most routine legal matters. And no, I am not a Sales Associate.

My experience was that you were "locked-into" one local affilliate attorney/law firm and could only communicate with that firm by either fax or letter. No phone calls, no in-person appointments. If the legal matter wasn't remedied by a letter, you (me) had to cough-up $1000 for a retainer, despite $100s already paid in monthly premiums. Its interesting that you mention the stock price. In the monthly or quarterly newsletters Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc mailed out, the president of the company always was touting the stock value. Seemed to me that's where his main priority was. Not to services for the customer/member's benefit but to the shareholders.

On a scale of one to ten, rating the actual benefit of Pre-Paid Legal....I would give it somewhere between zero and one!

Former! Please read my experience in the text that you copied above. After several years of monthly premiums, I had the opportunity to use the service. Then I found out just how limited Pre-Paid was. There is NOTHING "pre-paid" about Pre-Paid Legal! In hindsight, it is very little more than a multi-level marketing racket. Further, with you being a stockholder in the company, your objectivity on the matter is suspect.

I've never used Prepaid Legal, but at a firm I worked at we took a handful of PPL clients, and they were the biggest frickin headache imaginable. It wasn't worth the money.
