yeah, one of my mates is like 1/2 an inch taller than me, but weighs 27kg/65lbs less than me. he's got an active job whereas i have a fairly sedentary lifestyle, but he's not a twig and i ain't no porker, so it's really strange trying to figger out apart from an extra layer of puppy fat where i'm hiding an extra 1/3rd of a person on my bones.
This sounds like an interesting idea, that BMI scale put me in the 20th percetile and underwieght at 5'10" and and about 135. I am deffinately skinny but i wouldn't call myself underwieght I run track and play soccer and deffinately don't get pushed around...goes to show theres more to being in shape than a height to wieght ratio.
Indeed. And given the fact that Iron Rock's karts don't have a slot for easy-interchangable weight ballasts (from what I recall), I might just skip this weight loss/gain/get in shape thread. ha! =D No more lugging around 55#'s!
Oh, there's money involved? OK then. I'm 5'10'' 465 lbs and in a wheelchair. My goal is to be a svelte 220lb AND out my chair in 3 months. (If I loose the weight I will shave as well, I bet I'll look like a whole different person.) Here I am, pic taken yesterday: Image Unavailable, Please Login
ok me 6'2" 178pds BMI= 22.9. 60th percentile. thats puts me in normal range. I calculated my body fat and it was 20.39 percent. which was the last number in average . goal 155 pds, body fat. 15%.
eh... not sure you want that. then again that is just a basic calculation. you should get a proper scale or tool for measuring that. otherwise, me, at 155 now and being 5'8" I'm average build. It takes me a great deal of effort to gain a pound. (sorry guys)
If your 6'2" and weigh 178lbs at 20.39 pecent body fat, You either made a math error or have no muscle and very little bones. Im 155lbs at 5'8" and 10 to 11% bodyfat. So I would say your less fat than you think
Im going in for my fat percentage test in the morning, my shock was to find out before my first day of training that I'm now 243 lbs. WTF??!! For along time I was around 175 to 200. Well, it's got to change for the better. I just started a new weight training program & will post my results of the test tomorrow so I can have a better numbers to works with. Gotta stay away from those chicken fried chili cheese donuts.
BTW, the only thing I'm interested in is gaining weight. I don't weigh enough at 161. I need to be 185 by July. Good weight, that is.
Im in. I am 6'2" and this morning I weighed in at disgusting 264lb. I am a fatass. Im going back on the Bill Phillips body for life program hard core. My goal by May 1 is to weigh under 210lb and by July 1 to be at my target weight of under 200lb. I look good at 190lb. I look like a lardass loser at 264lb. Terry
How are we going to do this then? Should we have separate challenges for weight loss and weight gain? I am 6'2" 170. Would like to be around 190 with same bodyfat (?) by May.
I will participate, although i dont really need to lose weight, but rather put it back where it belongs, i propose a reverse weight loss challenge for those who want to gain some muscle. When i was in europe for 3.5 months some of my weight shifted from my upper body to my midsection. either way winter training for rowing will whip my ass back into shape in a very painful way. I actually lost 5 lbs over there due to a combination of some awful type of strep throat, lack of weight lifting facilities, and i think i had mono too. the first step is switching back to light beer which tastes awful but is necessary.
Right now at 5'7" and 250 as of this morning. Goal is 175 in a about a year. I will definitely like the idea of the support of the group. Brian
5'11 140 pounds. try climbing into a jet engine or a wing internal fuel tank and not be my size cool thread idea. i am 33. i have tried to gain weight. my family doctor said forget it, short of steroids it aint gonna happen until my super nova metabolism slows down. i do eat right and exercise since i dont want to be a cholersterol solid bomb when i am older. at least the 308 is faster with me in it. the curb weight doesnt change much!! best wishes to all of you.
Folks, would it not be easiest if everyone who wants to be "in" puts up (say) $50 and then posts a pic of themselves with various vital stats AND a goal. Then, at 3 months, those that are "in" pick 5 people who have best met their goals and "look good" and put these up to public vote? Some of us want to gain weight (lean muscle), some want to lose weight (blubber), and others just want to tone up. I for one want to lose about 40 lb, but at 6'4" 220lbs I am not exactly large. My motivation is a motorcycle accident that left me with a crappy left knee, and the best thing I can do for myself is get my weight down as much as is healthy. So, does this seem fair? Thoas interested state their goals, put in $, and then let the general Fchat population select who has best met their goal and best "improved" their physique. Just a thought... Dave
I'm in...I wanna lose 15 more pounds on top of the 7 I have dropped in the last ten days! PS: The picture of me on the scale is from 15 years ago when I was at 185. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry - I forgot to mention what the winner gets.... He/she gets to choose the charity (501 whatever registered etc) that receives all the $50 entries.... Dave
