Jeeze, guys, for the last time I was not talking about a major when I said $1200!!!!!!! :-)
Okay, the major service was done about ten years ago. It needs a clutch master cylinder, it needs an alternator. I believe it needs a new top. So, $15-20,000 plus whatever is discovered during service. How many Ferrari owners that are careful about service have no records? Oh, and it's tough to get it in second gear. Carfax type auto check confirms car had about 30000k on it about ten years ago. Not sure if top actually works - either. IF IT WAS AFFORDABLE to repair the owner would do it. It's not being done because the service that is known is probably just a starting point. I can't imagine it is drivable with a bad alternator and master clutch cylinder... How can you possibly know what else is wrong with it?
A very well maintained one is difficult to get into second gear, therefore this is no way an indication of whether the vehicle was taken care of properly or not
