Doesn't this statement right there tell you something about the picking order of prestigious wins? Sounds Monaco comes long before Le Mans.
Alain Prost has specifically denied the story and stated that he will not drive at LeMans. His exact quote reported on AtlasF1 was that it was "too risky." He also pointed out that he is involved with Toyota in ice racing.
ditto http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=31725 This reminds me when Prost dropped out of a GP saying that the rain and track conditions were too risky. For a successful F1 driver and a great champion, Prost was always very risk adverse.
