Anyone know a good source for a protective (rubber lined) socket set for lug nut removal? I'd like to protect the wheel and chrome plated lugs.

I have one from Ricambi. It's a good tool.

We used a Hill socket for grid tech during a recent FCA track day. That poor socket got torqued on 20+ cars within about 1 hour. No issues, no deformation on the socket, no scratched lugs whatsoever.

I'd been using one myself for the occasional DIY work, but wanted to really put the dang thing to the test. I was impressed, and I think our fellow track drivers were relieved to see that we actually cared about the condition of their lugs and weren't carelessly scratching them.

Hill's socket is a very hard aluminum. Good Stuff. I love mine! (and they're a site sponsor)

Harbor freight has this set. The 7/8" is basically a 22 mm. socket (22.22 mm) Just less than a 1/4 of a mm larger; a negligeable difference.
