Nice! And you've got the best of all worlds: a ts with the removable top in body-color. But why no "348" badging on the back?

Nice car! I see you have the same roof antenna that my 348 has. What is the year / serial number if you don't mind. Welcome to the brotherhood! This looks alot like a car that was for sale in Philly I think a few years ago. Had a pretty substantial amount of mods including the painted targa top, spacers, etc... Could this be that same car?

Thanks for the very warm welcome! I did in fact spend most of the night in the garage with a good friend just staring at this yellow machine. I am still in shock myself that "I have a Ferrari in the garage!"

I am unsure of why the 348ts badge is not there, but I do know that I like it without it. I was not the one to remove it, and it is the original decklid. It may be a purist thing for those who like it all stock, but I have no complaints with the appearance of it :)

BT- I have no knowledge of the antenna, but if it is the same as yours, perhaps you might enlighten me as to how to remove the antenna or otherwise fold it over for when I put the cover on it? I don't mind giving the serial for the community records, I'll post it a little later on. This car has no records of bein in Phily or the PA area, in fact, I just took delivery from a dealer in Ohio ;)

Scuderia NoVA- I doubt I'll be taking it to the Rally. I still need to get this stallion registered and inspected as it came from out of state. I am sure that the folks at FoW will be in for a surprise as I've been visiting them for so long and finally have one of my own!

And so there is a need for me to visit again as I need to get another key for it (does the 355 key fit the 348 ignition?), varioius documentation and misc things. Anything a new 348 owner should pick up?

Lastly, I post probably a rookie question, but a need to know. The targa stores behind the seats, and I see snap on buttons to the side of that. When storing the targa here, I believe there should be a cover for the targa to prevent the middle seat belts from rubbing all over the paint, but I am not sure and don't have the cover (if there is one). I'd rather take the targa with me than leave it at home, but I don't want to damage the paint in any way either. Ideas?

Thanks again for such a warm welcome! I can't wait to get to an event and meet with the community :D

Very nice Shaun... I like the looks of the 348... Since you see the "snaps" I would say there should be a cover that fits over the top while it is behind the seats. I know my 328 does... and would think the 348 would have one as well. You will love this board... your answer will soon come. Congrats! P.S. It took me about 6 months to get use to a Ferrari in my garage. True works of art. Enjoy!

Sweet dreams for you now. I went through that same none-believing period. Spend time in the garage examining every angle of the car till you are an expert. Yeah, that is my car!

The snaps are for a targa top cover. You can order a new one if you need it. With the painted targa top you need to protect the paint by covering the screws on the back of the seats with rubber covers. PM Daniel at RicambiAmerica and see what he suggests. I remember reading that he had some solution for it. Also, the Antenna has a retaining bolt / nut that can be removed. You might be better off cutting small hole and stitching a buttonhole type stitch around it to let the antenna poke through. If you remove the antenna mast you could get a shorter mast and replace the exiting one, then just let it hold the cover up a little bit. See pictures of Dale's 348 for the type of mast I am thinking of. Or if you change the radio to be XM style you could get an even lower profile XM antenna (so you don't need any bodywork to fill in the antenna hole). I just removed the mast for now and use the radio to play Cd's only. Enjoy the new car!

Don't drive with the top stored behind the seats unless you have some type of protection for it. My original top is hopelessly scratched because of the screws on seat-back rubbing against the targa. At one point, I got some little felt bumpers from Home Depot and put those on top of the screws. They didn't adhere very well, so it was a short-lived experiment. My next solution was even less elegant... I used big sheet of bubble wrap that I just kept in the trunk. It worked well, but looked like crap. I was soundly ridiculed by the local glitterati/tifosi.

Finally, I just said "heck with it", and moved on with my life. My new carbon fiber top will certainly never be stored behind the seats.

Anyway, if you want the OEM cover (with the nice snaps included) I have 'em. They are about $350 if I remember correctly. You could certainly fabricate one for a lot less -- but the real ones have a nice padding and little cavallino snaps. PM or call me if you're interested in one.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I do want the targa cover. I need to learn better how to put it back on after storing it as the seals were preventing it from sitting properly.

I drove it today for the first time as I just had it registered yesterday. The day broke, but rain came anyway, then the sun came out. I drove roughly 150 miles and smiled the entire time! This car is a drug.

On such a glorious day, I must advise caution driving in great falls area. Some young arrogant kid in a Red BMW M3 convertible (1995-99 model) actually rear ended my baby today at a traffic light. The damage is not bad, just a scrape, but this was a crushing moment as it was literally my first day with it. Such a sad thing. I let him go too. What bothered me the most was at how little remorse he had. "My dad just bought a 355 so why are you complaining about your 348".

The car has quirks. The engine struts like to not hold in the cold/rainy weather, but operate normally on warm/dry days. The targa was off most of the day, and I guess now from what I've read that I shouldn't have stored it without protecting it, but with rain pending, I wanted the top with me.

Well if you see the yellow 348 driving, give me a wave and introduce yourself! I love this thing!
