For years I have been silently reading all of the threads on this forum and smiled every time I saw one where a member announced that they finally found their TR and brought one home. Now, it's my turn and I could not be more excited!! Since I was 12-years old I have been waiting to get a TR and I finally found mine and brought her home! My neighbor bought one new back in 1988 and when I saw that car for the first time I could not even breath. I used to go over there after school and just stand there and stare at it for hours by myself in their garage. I was hooked!! I have gotten close to purchasing one a couple of times, but for one reason or another it did not come to fruition. This time was different. I was visiting the independent Ferrari shop in the area and was just talking with one of the mechanics over there and I just happened to mention that I was looking to one day find a TR. He asked me what I was looking for and I mentioned that I really wanted a black car and he said, "follow me." He took me next door to their storage area, pulled back the cover on a TR that was being stored in their facility and there it was!! A 12,000 mile, black/tan 89 TR with a recent complete engine out service with (all the trimmings). It was a an existing customers' car that was quietly for sale. He arranged for us to meet. We became fast friends and I bought the car! I have to pinch myself every time I walk into my garage (which is about every 3-5 minutes) because I cannot believe it's parked there and it's MINE!! My garage even smells better with the TR parked in there!! I have a few other cars in the stable but this is the one that I would/will keep over any of the others. I have been waiting for decades and now I am proud to say that I am part of the special group that owns these cars and I promise to be a responsible owner that enjoys every minute of it!!!...I feel honored to be a part of this club fellas!!

Lol they should come up with a name for the Testarossa-in-my-garage stupor that seems to affect us all when we take the plunge. Congrats!

Yeh, it's called the "walkaway turnaround". Now how many cars or even things make you do that?

Well done. It's never too late to make it happen, and it is beyond surreal when it goes into the garage for the first time. I still can't believe I have one and it's been almost two years now!

Thank you guys!! I think my picture posted this time. I have a couple of months before it gets really hot here in Scottsdale, so I plan on enjoying it in the cooler weather. It's one of those rare cars that you can get enjoyment out of while behind the wheel, or just while it sits in the garage. I really did not have any driving experience with a TR before I bought mine, but I am pleasantly surprised with how well it drives and performs. It's a real machine!

Congratualtions, Eric!! Most of us here know exactly how you feel. I've had mine for 4 years and still go to the garage to sit in it once in a while, well, pretty often actually... :)

    Congrats
We all know that feeling too well
Looking for reasons to stay in garage
    It never wears off
Drive and most of all " detail"

And here I thought I was alone in turning around to look 2 or 3 times before I shut the garage door!

Congrats!! Nice machine. Black is so nice.

Yes we all know what you feel like. During winter I have to go across my garage every morning and evening for my woodstove boiler. I placed a chair to sit and look at the TR every time I walk there. LOL and like others I sit in when I feel the need.

    Enjoy your new marvel.

This weekend's forecast was for rain, so I did not want to stray too far from home. Also I am not completely familiar with this car yet, so I wanted to keep it local. My usual "shakedown run" is a 70 mile drive up the B-Line Hwy which covers flat ground, elevations, good S-curves and a good chance to stretch the car's legs (I will run it up there next weekend). I drove locally yesterday and it seems like people get "sweaty" when they see the TR. Phone cameras everywhere and one woman who was walking across the street who exclaimed, "What the HELL is that thing!!" It took me 5 seconds to realize she was talking about me......One mechanical question....I have noticed that when the car heats up that it's idling at 1100 RPM (which seems fast). Am I able to adjust this myself (if so how?), or does this mean I have a vacuum leak somewhere which needs to be addressed by my shop?

Mine idles right at 1,000. Yes the idle can be adjusted via the big adjustment bolts/screws BUT you could have a slight vacuum leak. I wouldnt touch the air/fuel adjustment until you put some miles on the car to let it settle down. 1,100 RPM isnt out of the ball park for an 'Italian tune up' (driving).

"what the hell is that?" One of the first of many funny/strange comments you will get. There is a great thread titled "Funny/Strange things people say while in your Ferrari" on Fchat.......good read.
