I was curious if it is easy to check the PTU fluid in a FF from the engine bay. I understand that the PTU has both gearbox oil, which is filled from the bottom and some variant of DCT fluid. I would be interested in checking the DCT fluid. I searched and could not find much. Thanks in advance. Car is approaching 52k and the paranoia is setting in quickly:).

I dont know how easy it is to see hoses that commonly leak, but my thought was if fluid is low there is a chance a hose may be seeping.

If you want to check an FF for a potential PTU leak, you need to remove the drivers side engine cover. Underneath the drivers headlight you will see the PTU hydraulic fluid tank. The top filler tank should be mostly empty, but the lower tank should be full to the top, if it's low then there's a good chance there's a leak somewhere that could mean a failure down the road.

You don't need to remove covers. Just open the hoon and look white The tank is behind the left headlight. The dark liquid is clearly visible on the white tank. If it doesn't exist, then it's over.
