NOBODY has learned you just don't do this in sports anymore.

He will be productive 2-3 more years and then go down the tubes to nagging injuries, you can bet on it.

Just look at ALL the other guys in baseball that have signed $75 million dollar+ contracts, almost none of them are performing anywhere close to their contract.

HUGE, HUGE, HUGE for the Angels. And considering I live close, GREAT for me. I'm a Yankees fan but support my home team. AP has 3-4 years left in him on the field (1st. Base) then goes right to DH. Thats why the AL was good for him...

It is too bad he left the Cardinals, but there was a minority of people here whose opinion was it would be better to lose him and have the money to spend on other players.

Either one Albert, or three $8M pitchers. Tough choice.

USA Today is so excited about it, their article reads like Pujols and Wilson signed with a city, not a team: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2011/12/albert-pujols-agrees-to-10-year-250-million-deal-with-angels/1

Of course, given the issues with the Dodgers it may will be the Angels town now.

I think it's just totally stupid.
All the owners should collude and just not do this, but hey - it's their money.

Pujols will underperform his contract in 2 or 3 years, and the team will still be on the hook for it.
    Crazy.

I'm about the biggest Cards fan there is, and I have no problem with him leaving because...

    agreed. crazy money.

only saving grace for the Angels* is that they're an AL team, so he can play 1st (or outfield) for a few years then switch to DH. no NL team could go 10 years for him IMO.

*saving grace? angels? see what I did there? ;)

My brother is a huge Cardinals fan. He was pissed about this for about an hour yesterday. Now he realizes what a huge mistake doing a mega money 10 year deal for a 31 (or 32?) year old player would have been. Albert will probably DH for half of this contract and $25 million is crazy money for a DH.

I believe the Angels are nuts. He will be good for another 4-5 years. At the end of his contract, it will be a joke. When he is in his 40's, A.P., will be a part time DH, who is batting just over .250 with a few HR's and less than 70 RBI's.

The Angels overpaid for his services.

The Cardinals were smart, to pass on a long term deal.
