So boys I finally made the switch from bull to pony. Waited a long time for a bone stock yellow over black three pedal berlinetta and here she is: a 98 with less than 20,000 miles and a recent engine out belt service and major. My guy is going through her as we speak. So far no real surprises. Compressions are 185 to 215. Leak down shows a little air escaping but we think that might improve with some use. Lots of little stuff to deal with: old tires, inop fuel door, a broken sway bar link mounting stud (how did that happen?), and some torn cv joint bolts. But overall she is absolutely stunning: great paint and interior looks new. Hope to have her on the road by the week end, and I can't wait. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks fellas. The blue car in the back behind my kid is my mechanic's custom roadster. Built from scratch. Wil de Groot of Exoticars in NJ. Great shop btw. Been going to him for 20 years. He refurbed my Miura and a mess of other cars. My berlinetta is basically a one owner car. I believe an F'chatter bought it in April from the original owner then traded it on a Porsche and the dealer sold it to me a month later. Lots of records and scary clean. I'll post more photos when able. I also have a million questions . . .
Congratulations Rob. Since it appears that you have experience with other types of cars, we'd be interested to hear your impression as to how your 355 differs. Welcome to the club and enjoy the back roads of the great northeast. Cheers, Henry
This is my mechanic's car, which he made by hand. It's beautiful. She's still in the shop . . . hope to have her on this road by the weekend.
