purchased a western digital my passport essential

says to do a quick format from going to the fat32 to ntfs

some guys told me that its better to do full format before i start loading junk in


which should i do, and what is the difference

even tho im not loading windows, its just a drag and drop portable drive


but ill do it anyway, i dont want to lose stuff if it ends up on those "bad sectors"
