    Hi Everyone;
    I'm in the process of purchasing my first Ferrari.A 1987 328 GTS,17,000 miles in prestine condition.I;ll have a prepurchase inspection done be Berilinetta MotorCars on Long Island,NY.
    One of the previous owners had this brain storm to paint the louvres,rear deck grill,side mirrors and Targa top RED.So that being the case,I wouldn't think it would be to complicated in bringing the parts back to the original black it was. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.
    Would appreciate any help,

    Thanks
    BobbyS

    Hi there.

    This is probably better asked in the 308/328 section further down the main page.

    If you know the VIN, post it and somebody here may know the car.

    On the targa/spoiler, those parts come from the factory with a vinyl pattern embedded in the fiberglass. Usually those are smoothed when painted, so simply repainting them black won't bring them back to factory looks.

    Congrats, sounds like a nice car. Pics, though, we love pics. Post 'em, ask for suggestions and you will get a million opinions. Enjoy driving it and deal with the minor cosmetics when the weather gets bad. Waking up the first morning and making a coffee run with the top off, right up there with a honeymoon- just don't tell my wife. Seriously, sounds like a great example. Have fun, go to dinner the first night you get it and you will eat quickly just to get back and check on the car.

    was this car parked at the Americana/Manhasset show on Sunday? I saw some cars from Berlinetta there and a 328 that matches your description was parked there as well. It definitely caught my attention to see all the louvers red - I think I took some photos of it, but not sure. As for the targa, it was definitely smoothed out when painted - I looked at it closely. If it were me, I'd say keep the targa as-is as a spare and just buy an original stock targa. Not worth trying to bring it back to original condition imo. Either that or put it up on ebay - plenty of people would want a painted targa.

    I discovered that I DID take a pic of the car in question. I figured I would post it up anyway. Not my taste, but still interesting to look at in person.
