I may be getting ready to move to Florida, job pending +/-. Things are definitely different there. I'm thinking in order to fit in with the local crowd I'm going to put a vinyl top on my Dino. +/- opera windows. Do you think I should take it to a Cadillac dealer or an independent shop? Oh, and maybe a Continental Kit if you don't think it will interfere with the engine cooling.
now, we are REALLY getting bored. repost stuff is so cumbersome, can't we discuss the same issues we debated years ago, but with a new understanding in the changes in the dino market/part/nos/repro items?
Heading into the sunset, eh ? The key option is the handicapped placard, and the wheelchair lift...should bolt right onto the dino . PS. Isn't florida in a malpractice crisis? I though insurance was unobtainable? Are you going self-insured?
You could always get rid of that tempermental four-cam V6 and drop in one of the General's reliable old "Iron Dukes" from a Pontiac Fiero. Yeah, it doesn't have quite the power or sound the same, but tune-ups are a breeze and gas mileage is much improved. I even found some sucker at a junkyard who agreed to pay me 75 bucks for the old motor! Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can't forget the hydrolic lift kit and the monster-sized speaker box. No REAL ride is complete without these. Oh, btw, I can't wait to see the pics of your ride! Marc
No one has mentioned the TWO most important mods reqired... First... Either: 1. lower the seat 8 inches or 2. raise the dashboard and steering 8 inches In the Dino, may be easiest to take a combo approach: remove the seat bottoms and then raise the dash the required amount. Second: remove 2nd 3rd and 4rth gear from the tranny.
Actually I heard about 20 years ago (when you could buy a GT for $20K) that someone actually did put a Chevy V6 from a Fiero into a Dino. Or was that just urban legend?
Never heard that but comsidering all the Chevy V8 that were put in old Jags and the occasional Ferrari, I wouldn't doubt it in the least.
