I was told by a dealer in a different State they could get the PS quicker than my local dealer. 16-18 months versus 36 months, with the reasoning that they get more allocations. How valid is this?

Is it worth transferring my deposit?

I would say that is BS. You can ask the dealer how many PS they already have orders from existing customers versus the dealer you are working with. You will be last on the other dealers list of allocations.

Update…info from my dealer this afternoon said our Purosangue has moved to 93 status which is released to carrier. Next update should be that it’s at the dealer…probably in a couple of weeks.

Yes…a long wait. We were in the first group of allocations for our dealer Boardwalk Ferrari, and I think our Purosangue was the 4th or 5th one delivered to Boardwalk.

Dealer said there were issues and 6-9 months of not making any, or only a few. Expecting a build in summer.

Maybe they have been utilizing their limited V12 motor production to other models instead. Those V12 models have become a higher priority for some reason. As JTSE30 noted some time ago V12 build capacity is limited...

I don't have any info on it. If I do get some I'll share, but could just be speculation on the dealer's part as well.

It would be interesting to know how many in the US who were the Initial Allocations even have a car in production. Myself as well as two other people I know who were in the first allocation and put in spec's about a year ago the cars are still reflected as 00 which I understand means the factory approved the spec's but the factory has not given any allocation for production. Speculation, there will likely be some cancellations in the first quarter of the new year if Ferrari decides to continue to slow down the production especially for those who were in the first allocation group.

It's interesting given my dealer at least is still offering allocations.

Something is definitely going on at factory to "manipulate" (not sure that's the right word/connotation, but I can't think of better at the moment) flow into the market. My Roma Spider went 10R in May and is nowhere to be seen. Sitting at factory for months post production. Others reporting the same. It's not just Purosangue's sitting/stalling.

It should be noted that Ferrari now knows the environmental footprint of each production car they build. They are specifically committed to not increasing Ferrari production and by extension that footprint. Ferrari plan for only 20% of car production to be internal combustion engines in the next five years. They have become very sensitive to the contributions made by the big V12's and seem to be trying to limit their impact. They also admit to limiting sales in certain markets to better reflect Ferraris' current and future interests. All done with the background knowledge that Ferrari is selling a luxury product and not a 'necessity'.

I guess they are late to learn all that is total nonsense. But then, they are able to increase scarcity of their desirable models/engine while virtue signaling. Maybe not a dumb strategy.

A woke luxury company is destined to fail. We want cars that are fun to drive and enjoy not cars that make the green people happy. All BS.

I was at my local dealer in florida yesterday. They had maybe 6 new Pusangues sitting outside . Not sure if they were waiting on the owners to pickup or if the owners passed on them

That’s surprising to hear about six Purosangue SUVs sitting on the lot. It’s highly unlikely that people would walk away from their orders considering the deposit requirements—10% to 15% in most cases. Losing that kind of money, especially on a car this exclusive, doesn’t make much sense, not to mention the hit it could take on their relationship with the dealer.

Given how exclusive and expensive the Purosangue is, you’d think most buyers would pick it up, drive it for a few months, and then flip it after the six-month hold period if they weren’t planning to keep it. It seems like a much smarter move than walking away from the deposit. Definitely raises some questions about what’s really going on.
