I forgot to mention a few weeks ago, I was going up the pass from San Bernardino to Hesperia/Victorville, and coming down the other way I saw MB 300 Gullwing in what appeared to be a light metallic purple, almost lavender color.

Has anyone else seen this car?

The color is called DB 543 Strawberry Metallic. There are about 20+ of these cars in the USA painted that color. Probably a Hjeltness restored car based on the area you saw it.

You're probably right... The first is a pic of Strawberry Metallic from a random site. What I remember though is more like the second which I tweaked for hue. Maybe just angle/glare?

You know what is crazy is how this site is so powerful in google search engine relevance. I re-googled "300 Strawberry Metallic" just now, and THIS PAGE is the #1 hit on google. It's only 45 minutes old!!!

There is also another color that only two cars are painted; one real one from the factory and the other a respray over a red car. It's called DB 377 silver violet. It is a much bluer purple. That car was next to my golf bag holder equipted gullwing at Pebble Beach in 2005.

The second car looks like it could be Strawberry Metallic but that first one is something else entirely!

Looking at that, I believe that was the color. It was a hardtop.

I love Gullwings. The Silver violet looks really good.
