Exactly why a dyno run is so good to do. You find where the power is. And when you do, you drive the car differently. I'm always surprised how much "faster" the car feels--- and actually is when shifted at those RPM max power points. And of course, to be standing outside your car and listening to that motor music near the redline is worth the price of admission
It's a standard for front engine rear wheel drive cars that I learned from engine tuners and dyno operators back in my racing days... not sure what the standard is for mid engine rear wheel drive, but I suspect not much less?
That factor can change a lot depending on SAE correction, whether they're inputting the *actual* temp/humidity in for the run (yes, some shops will fudge this to provide higher numbers for social media/forum "clout"), etc. End of the day, HP is just a mathematical calculation. Torque is importantest.
LHT Performance down in FL is probably the only place I'd ever want to do dyno testing. If you ever see their stuff on YT (primarily S2000's, supercharger kits) you'll know why. John is *ADAMANT* about transparency and showing, on every video, the temp/humidity sensor's proximity to the dyno itself, and comparing his phone's weather info vs what's on the screen. Dude's almost too honest to be a mechanic, frankly.
Rear wheel hp is just that and it can change with so many variables. Great for before and after if doing some mods. Trying to calculate flywheel hp from wheel hp is pure guess work. Flywheel hp can only be measured on an engine dyno.
I have no reason to believe that the shop wanted to make me happy. Especially since they broke my heart on another pole for my Porsche 964. That was hard to swallow. On a sidenote, the challenge stradale exhaust with the valves open in combination with the sport cats is absolutely hooligan. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

I have one on the way. Just wondering if it will be worth it (the fab job and ~$500 in brackets) vs something like a Tubi? My car has headers and sport cats already.
Are you basing that statement on the dyno chart posted? Power is actually surprisingly flat up top - most cars are much peakier. You definitely want to rev to 8500 because the shift puts you way back down the power band.

In regards to drivetrain loss, I think 15% is reasonable for a mid engine car. Does temperature play a role in the RWHP number? I tend to think so. It was a nice humid 100F day when I dynoed. Naturally aspirated cars pick up so much power from my butt dyno when the air cools down. We played with cam timing for hundreds of hours on the Challenge cars when we ran them in the series. There is 30Hp to be found with the right cam timing. they will idle a little choppy but pull much better on the last half of the rpm range.
