I'm watching it now and it is hilarious. This dealership owner is crazy. He has 50 salespeople and a dealership that does between 500-700 cars a month. I used to work at a dealership that thought 90 cars was a big month lol. Erik
The don't have the best reputation. For a while people on different boards have said some bad things about them. I found this page http://www.choppercarsfraud.com/ but there is so much other stuff mixed in there it is hard to find the actual Towbin stuff.
This show is on again right now. If I drove up to a dealer and saw that many sales guys standing out waiting for someone to pull in I think I would turn around and leave.
I'm from Vegas and this guy truly does know how to move cars. He started by having a real late night show where the basically just got all excited, dressed up the sales people, and yelled the prices of the used cars. You can see little parts of it during the A&E show. Its actually pretty entertaining when theres nothing else on at 3 am. From what I remember he inherited the dealership from his father and has been minting money ever since. Mark
I was channel surfin' and came across a car lot with a big, black guy yelling at people. Was that the show?
I watched the show last night - fairly entertaining, especially for a car guy. One thing I'd like to mention: the two closers seemed relatively weak. Both are young (young guys have energy, but not a lot of closing experience), and neither seemed to have any strong "closing" skills. Of course, I've seen what A&E has shown me, and not how the store runs daily, but I dunno. I was unimpressed. Seems to me like Towbin hits the 500-700 cars/month figure by fleeting out their cars. That's fine for an owner (holdback, dealer pack, factory retro bonuses), but it keeps a lot of money out of the hands of the salesforce. As a true a dedicated car guy, I can say that fleet stores get little respect. Selling by discounting (or "dropping your pants") required very little in the area of salesmanship.
I have to say it was ok. I've seen better shows, but this one had to do with cars and people yelling half way decent...
