    Hello all,

I would love to find a 1983 price list, preferably European (guilders, deutsche mark, pound sterling, lira, franc whichever) but US$ just as well, to put the Mondial into perspective, from my memory the line-up in 83 would have been

    208 turbo (GTS and GTB)
    308 QV (same)

    Mondial QV (coupe and convertible)

    400i

    512 BBi

    and I found that roughly 60K was the price for the 308, and the Mondial was over 100K deutsche Mark;
    input appreciated,

    cheers

Interesting posts! The Mondial must currently be the most under-valued Ferrari out there...it's got all the right ingredients for a top collector's car: mid-engine, manual, Enzo-era, classic 80s Pininfarina design, fairly low production numbers, etc... I have a feeling it's going to catch up to the recent increasing price trend rather sooner than later.

Did every late Mondial T come with a factory cover? And at N/C?

As far as I know, all the cars came with factory covers.

ps. the Mondial connoisseur will tell you it is always a small "t", never a cap "T", unless when it is all caps.

awesome posting original stickers wish there was a database that you could order one for your car

what is really enlightening is that the Mondial priced more than its 2 seat sister...

    Gas Mileage

I drive my 1986 3.2 coupe hard and the only way I ever managed to achieve 10 miles per US gallon was repeated runs, full throttle from 60 mph indicated to 120 indicated. I do not keep meticulous records but in general I believe I typically get about 16 -17 mpg. In addition, I have tried to get the most mpg and seem to manage about 20 miles per US gallon in two ways. First, low rpm at low speeds, and modest rpms at 70 mph continuous. These were deliberate attempts.

The longer the Mondial remains 'the black sheep' the longer people can experience the serious classic Ferrari experience at reasonable prices! When I started looking for a 3x8 it was obvious the Mondial was the choice. And it got better! For instance the two seater looks like a space ship [a big deal, really] but can not back it up with modern street iron but the Mondial simple looks elegant.

The Mondial is also WAY more practical. Voluminous rear parcel shelves cleverly designed to mimic rear seats and LOTS of headroom. Cowboy hat headroom! Longer wheel base of a GT makes for comfortable cruising without much mitigating Ferrari cornering experience that becomes obvious in comparison to other makes such as my Z-28 of the same era that was track competitive at the time. And I have seriously done cornering. Docile, secure, easily accessible etc etc.

I do not pretend to know the handling characteristics of the two seat version but for half the price it does not much matter to me.

    FURTHER:

I prefer the 3.2 over other versions for two reasons. First, the 3.2 can just about keep up with a modern Camry 6 cylinder in a straight line. Second, you can replace the water pump without engine out as with the t.

    But thats just me..... ;)

And a 1986 3.2 was about half the cost!

If you are interested, I can check on the price of the t coupe when purchased. I have a copy of the bill of sale with the records that were passed on with the car.

    Regards,

So for NA was there really just two models in 83?
308 and Mondial, both having two body options?

Any luck from our non-northamerican participants in finding any reference?

Here is my guess in terms of pricing

    from low to high

208 and 308 (depending on market)
    Mondial QV
    400i
    512BBi

I would like a reference to understand better which audience they aimed at what price range and compare with period competitors, aka 911, 928, Jaguar XJS etc...like in some of the old road tests where they list the car:s competitors.

I have absolutely no problem with the Mondial being not valued proportionately to its syblings throughout its lifetime. Have owned enough cars where one breed that initially was higher priced remained very affordable and coupes and especially convertibles went up a lot, e.g. MB W109 6.3 versus W111 coupe versus W111 convertible.

so please keep the numbers coming,

    cheers
