Any tips. Use the bag? Have not done it yet. I want to go somewhere tonight and I will probably need the top on for the drive home. Rodney Dickman 1990 348 TS
Slide the targa top behind the seats putting the male end (attached to the roof) into the rubbered holes on the floor. Make sure the locking levers are up. This ensures no puncturing of the back carpeting. The seat backs should rest against top side of the targa top. Also check to see if the screws on the back of the seats do not stick out far enough to scratch the targa top. If so, screw them in tighter or protect the to somehow. Some people have put tape or plugs over the screws to prevent any issues.
FYI, this does not work if you are over 5'9" tall since you will have to run the seat up 2" to make space. I just leave the damned thing at home and park the car under cover since I am 6'1".
Also, hold your fingertips over the window molding that is attached to the targa top as you slide the pegs into the holes so the weatherstrip molding attached to the top does not catch on the carpeted vertical panel in the car. The friction can bend the weatherstripping to the point that it will start to tear. BT
DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER! Be damn sure to protect the top from scuffs! The screws holding the seat-backs are a terrible design and will gouge the top if not properly protected. I use a very non-OEM piece of bubble wrap to protect my carbon fiber top. My OEM top is totally scraped/scratched and looks horrible because of those damn screws.
